5 SPECIALISED PRODUCTS FOR SPECIAL PROJECTS Roll-Up Serranda custom manufactures steel and aluminium roller shutters to best fit the application. We don t set limitations through restricted product specifications and have often collaborated closely with clients with highly specialised requirements. This has lead to the development of the most comprehensive range of specialised roller shutters in the industry. FIRE RATED ROLLER SHUTTERS Our fire rated doors are certified by TUV Rheinland, a German based testing facility with international credibility, and are the first in South Africa to be awarded international certification. They were tested using the ISO standard timetemperature curve in accordance with SABS requirements, reaching temperatures of 1051 C. These solid steel panelled roller shutters are available in two size ranges, a 1 ½ hour rated version with maximum exposed shutter area of 36m2 and a 2 hour fire rated door up to 12m2. They don t require electric sensors or hydraulic mechanisms in the event of fire, operating with a fusible link and descent control mechanism. They remain permanently open until automatically activated by fire and can be integrated with existing fire protection systems. PETROL BOMB RESISTANT AND GAS LEAK PROOF ROLLER SHUTTERS These doors are highly suitable for embassies, government buildings, art and artefact galleries and museums. Manufactured from double wall aluminium, they seal an area against gas leaks, prevent gases from spreading into or out of a building and are capable of withstanding the force of a high impact petrol bomb attack. They have been tested according to SABS standards. TORNADO WIND RESISTANT ROLLER SHUTTERS Roll-Up Serranda was tasked to design a roller shutter that could withstand the severe buffeting of these winds, both on South Africa s coastline as well as the Indian Ocean Islands. Manufactured from either solid galvanised steel or aluminium slats with a double wall cavity extrusion, they are extremely robust. Load tests proved the doors are capable of withstanding gale force winds without any permanent deforming of the slats, supports, shaft or operating mechanism. The steel roller shutters can withstand wind speeds of up to 120km/hour while the aluminium version is suitable for wind speeds of up to 200km/hour.
