.0 introduction The information and instructions in this document are specific to the 1305 / 1306 / / Log Cabin. Please read them in conjunction with your General Instruction Manual. The instructions in your general manual cover a wide range of Finnlife log cabins. Not all of those instructions relate to your log cabin. For a complete sequence of instruction references for the 1305 / 1306 / / Log Cabin (numeric from 1.0 to 28.0 in the General Instruction Manual and alphabetic from.0 to G.0 in this Building Plans and Parts List), refer to section C.0. NB: ONLY INSTRUCTION REFERENCES LISTED IN ONE OF THE SEQUENCES IN SECTION C.0 PPLY TO YOUR LOG CBIN. IGNORE LL OTHER INSTRUCTIONS. Please read both documents thoroughly before you start building. REFER MODEL-SPECIFIC TO * OTHER MNUL This icon refers to model variations and model specific information. It appears throughout the general instruction manual. It may be helpful to run through the General Instruction Manual and this Building Plans and Parts List with a highlighter pen to mark the instructions that apply to your cabin. Familiarisation 1.0 to 4.0;.0 to C.0; F.0 to F.2; G.0; 24.0 to 28.0 Preparation 5.0 to 7.2 Starting out G.0; 8.0 to 10.7 Building up the walls G.0; 12.0 to 13.4; 14.0 to 14.1; 14.2 to 14.4 Loft G.0; D.0 to E.2; F.1 Roof beams G.0; 15.0 to 15.3 Roof and shingles G.0; 16.0 to 19.4 Interior finishes G.0; 20.0 to 22.2 Terrace G.0; 23.0 to
D.0 loft D.1 It's best to install the loft before you fix the roof beams. You have more space in which to manoeuvre loft floorboards. The loft floorboards rest on the walls that separate the two smaller internal rooms and on a series of loft floor beams. The loft floor beams are supported by wallmounted floor beam supports. The floor beam supports are fixed to the walls of both smaller internal rooms. Refer to the building plans in section G.0 for details of your loft layout. Measure down from the top of the centre wall mm and mark. Transfer this mark along the wall to give you a line to set your loft support beams to. When fixing the beams the mark will be needed to indicate the top edge of the beams. D.2 In the larger of the two rooms, fix the longer loft support beams to the inner faces of walls E and F. lign them so that the upper surfaces of the supports are flush with your marked lines. Fix down the loft support beams at 500mm intervals. 4
D.3 Repeat steps D.1 and D.2 for the smaller room using the shorter loft support beams. D.4 Now suspend the loft beams from the support beams five above the larger room, five above the smaller room using the protruding joints which rest on the support beams. Each room will require 5 loft beams. 5
D.5 Push one loft beam flush with wall C and another flush with wall. Screw them to the walls at 500mm intervals. D.6 rrange two loft beams either side of the partition wall B, then space the remaining loft beams out evenly above each room. Screw them to the underlying support beams. Each room will have 5 loft beams which should be evenly spaced out. 6
D.7 Begin laying loft floorboards from the loft entrance. Point the tongues of the floorboards away from the loft opening and the grooves towards it. Nail the loft floorboards to the loft floor beams and to the top of partition wall. You may need to trim the last floorboard to fit. Each room should have 5 loft beams which should be evenly spaced out. D.8 Finish by cutting skirting boards to size and nailing to all four internal loft walls. 7
E.0 loft ladder The loft ladder rests at an angle against the wall beneath the loft opening. Two ladder hooks hold it in place over the lip at the foot of the loft entrance. E.1 Lean the ladder against the wall beneath the loft and adjust the position so that the lower chamfered ends lie flat on the floor and the upper ones rest flat against the wall. Use a spirit level to check that the treads are horizontal. E.2 Place the ladder hooks over the loft lip and against the ladder. djust the positions of hooks and ladder to make sure the ladder rests flat when hooked to the wall. Screw the hooks to the ladder. 8
