2 FEATURES and SPECIFICATIONS (RR01203 one luminaire; RR01202 two luminaires) DRAWING NOT TO SCALE Features per Luminaire: Lamp and Socket watt 22 volt 100 CRI DCB base tungsten halogen lamp (included). Extra lamp provided. DCB socket with Teflon leads. Reflector 2 Cold mirrored glass reflector removes heat from light beam. Motors / Gimbal Assembly 3 Two 12 volt permanently lubricated motors control motion. Quiet operation. Plug-in modular electronics designed for easy maintenance. Visible and easily serviced through removable trim assembly. Rotates 360 o and tilts up to 35 o from either side of nadir. Thermal Protection 4 Per current NEC. Infrared Remote Control 5 (one per lighting system) Controls power, direction and brightness. Emits unique frequency to avoid interfering with other infrared emitting equipment. Loss-deterring beeper reminds user to store remote on wall control module. Wall Control Module 6 (one per lighting system) Includes all tactile-membrane function controls (power, direction, brightness) and electronics. Also contains infrared receiver and magnetic storage strip for the remote control. (Detail on following page.) 2 Designed to avoid potential interference from other infrared emitting equipment. All control wiring supplied by Kirlin is 12 volt maximum. Pre-connected plug-in modular electronics designed for easy maintenance. Isolation Transformer 10 WhisperPack TM fully encapsulated 120 to 22 volt step-down Class H isolation transformer. Fused (in J-box). Cool, quiet, long life. Silicone leads. Visible and easily serviced in all ceilings, including dry wall. For 277 volt, see Option -58. Installation Lightweight 28 pound fixture recesses in all ceilings including suspended ceilings. 3 REMOTE and WALL CONTROL FEATURES: RR01202 The lighting system includes both an infrared remote control and a flush wall control panel. Either may be conveniently used to accurately adjust direction and light intensity of each of the two luminaires. A designated magnetic strip on the wall control panel has been provided for storage of the remote control when not in use. WALL CONTROL PANEL (INSTALLED IN ROOM WALL) Remote and Wall Control Features: Redundant full function controls for: - Power - Fixture selection - Intensity (dimmer or brighter) - Direction (rotates 360 with tilt up to 35 from ither side of nadir. Convenient one hand operation. Tactile-membranes and smooth surfaces for easy cleaning. REMOTE CONTROL FRONT REMOTE CONTROL BACK Remote Control (only) Features: Invisible infrared signal will not interfere with other equipment in the room. Durable construction to withstand common mishaps (dropped on floor). Includes loss deterring beeper to remind user to return remote to storage area on wall control panel. Beeper is activated if remote control is not used for, nor returned to wall control panel within 1 hour. 9 volt standard battery provided. Low stand-by current assures long battery life. Back side has special "write-on" area for marking room location. Wall Control (only) Features: Includes infrared receiver. "Right" and "Left" fixture indicator lights. Transformer shielding wire must attach to transformer mounting stud on housing. 2. Bring specified line voltage (120 or 277V) to junction box on the luminaire. Kirlin recommends isolating each fixture or fixture pair by wiring to a dedicated circuit. 3. Attach the RJ45 connector on control cable to corresponding RJ45 connector on Wall Control Panel. This is a low voltage plenum rated control cable. It is recommended that this cable not be run through conduit unless required by code. If you choose to pull these cables through conduit, tie the cable off between 2.5" and 3" away from the connector and add electrical tape from the tie down to end of the RJ45 connector. TROUBLESHOOTING FLOW CHARTS To begin, check all of the following components and proceed as instructed. If more than one of the below is true, begin with chart A. 1.

10 TROUBLESHOOTING FLOW CHARTS To begin, check all of the following components and proceed as instructed. If more than one of the below is true, begin with chart A. 1. If the mirrors do not function properly - go to Chart A. 2. If the remote control does not work - go to Chart B. 3. If the lamp(s) do not light - go to Chart C. 4. If the lamps have short life - go to Chart D. 5. If the lamps do not dim - go to Chart D. A. LIGHT HEAD DOES NOT MOVE PROPERLY B. REMOTE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK Are connections complete to the wall control (9) and power supply (7)? Do you have a clear line-of-site between the remote control (10) and the wall control (9)? If YES - Is fuse (1) in good condition and connections complete in junction box? If NO - Complete connections. If YES - Does replacing the remote control s (10) battery with a known working battery correct the problem? If NO - Move the remote (10) so that it has a clear line of site. If YES - Does replacing the wall control (9) with a known working unit correct the problem? If NO - Replace fuse (1) / complete connections. If YES - Replace the battery in the remote control (10). If NO - Does replacing the remote control (10) with a known working unit correct the problem? If YES - Replace the wall control (9). If NO - Does running temporary control cable(s) (8) from the aperture of the fixture to the wall control (9) correct the problem? If YES - Replace the remote control (10). If NO - Replace the wall control (9). If YES - Replace wall control cable(s) (8). If NO - Replace the power supply (7) with a known working unit. If YES - Replace the wall control (9). C. LAMP(S) DO NOT LIGHT Are the sockets (5) connected to the power supply (7) and the lamps (6) in good condition and installed properly? If YES - Replace the sockets and socket wires (5). If NO - Install lamps properly / replace any defective lamps* (6). *Lamps must be purchased from Kirlin. D. LAMPS HAVE SHORT LIFE OR DO NOT DIM Using a true RMS volt meter, is the input voltage to the fixtures between V? If YES - Does replacing the wall control (9) with a known working unit correct the problem? If NO - Are you able to adjust the voltage to the fixture? If NO - Replace wall control cable(s) (8). If YES - Adjust the voltage to 120V. If NO - Contact The Kirlin Company. 10

11 MAINTENANCE GUIDE: Replacing Lamps: 1. Turn off luminaire and allow lens and lamp to cool. 2. Remove lens. 3. Remove the old lamp by gently pushing the lamp and turning counter-clockwise. 4. Using a cloth or gloves, insert the new lamp in the socket by gently pushing the lamp in and turning clockwise. (Do not touch the lamp with your bare hands. If you do, remove fingerprints with rubbing alcohol. Cleaning the Lens: 1. Turn off luminaire and allow lens and lamp to cool. 2. Use glass cleaner and soft cloth or paper towel to clean the lens, then wipe down with water and dry with lint free soft cloth or paper towel. Repeat step if necessary. Replacing Remote Control Battery: 1. Turn Remote Control over and remove battery compartment door. 2. Remove old battery and replace with common 9V battery. Cleaning the Remote and Wall Controls: 1. Use a 70% isopropyl alcohol solution and soft cloth. 2. Wipe clean the surfaces of both the Remote and Wall Controls. Dimming Lamps Dimming tungsten halogen lamps (including Kirlin tungsten halogen lamps) may interrupt the halogen cycle, causing the lamp wall to blacken and the lamp to fail prematurely. To counteract the effects of dimming and to maximize the performance and life of the lamp, always start the lamp at full rated power OR operate the lamp for several minutes at full power at regular intervals. REPLACEMENT LAMPS The lighting systems (RR01202 & RR01203) utilize a Kirlin proprietary lamp.
