2 BIJL BRIDGE COMPLETELY COMPOSITE BIJL Profielen b.v. at Dintelmond in The Netherlands produces glass fibre reinforced polyester profiles and complete composite bridges. The supporting structure of the BIJL Bridge is built up of pultruded glass fibre reinforced polyester (GRP) profiles. For the deck BIJL deck planks are used. The bridge railing can also be constructed of GRP profiles, but also of other materials like wood. The fixing materials are made of stainless steel. Compared with other materials like concrete, aluminium and steel, less energy is needed for the production of the GRP parts of the BIJL Bridge. Other environment polluting processes like hot dip galvanizing are not necessary and that makes the whole bridge an extremely sustainable product. 3 BIJL QUALITY In 2004 the first supporting BIJL bridge structure was produced. Our many years experience in the production of glass fibre reinforced profiles is the guarantee for a constant, high product quality. Besides, we have the disposal of high-quality testing equipment in order to test the planks mechanically according to the set standards. All BIJL planks are tested by TÜV Rheinland (former TNO Quality services). Next to this tests BIJL Profiles has have executed an evaluation in conformity with the state building act. The BIJL planks are tested for: Bending stiffness Point load Pressure strength Braking tests Wheel load Shearing strength

4 BIJL BRIDGES Because of the scalable design, there is a total freedom in width and length. Straight or variable arch, various types of railings, LED lighting. Because of the unique production method we are able to build in a flexible way according to the wishes of our clients. Of course all is calculated and tested in accordance with the highest standards. BIJL is building bridges in many shapes and with dimensions that comply with all requirements regarding headroom, slope etc. without an expensive mould having to be made therefor. That is a fast, efficient and economical way of working. How can the bridge be loaded? The bridge is calculated in conformity with the standard EN and CUR Recommendation 96 (fibre reinforced synthetics in civil supporting structures). The bridge is designed for an equally distributed load of 500 kg/m2, a point load of 700 kg on 0.1 x 0.1 meter and a maintenance vehicle of 5,000 kg. In addition to our arched composite bridges we also produce flat bridges. To be used perfectly as bicycle and pedestrian bridge and as a light weight yard entrance bridge. 5 BIJL PREFAB BRIDGES BIJL is building complete prefab bridges, very light in weight and ideal for places that are difficult to reach. The complete bridge is built up in our factory. For the bridge deck composite road deck planks are used. The girders are also made of composite. The railing can be made of GRP profiles at where there is a choice of various colours and sizes. The BIJL prefab bridges are easy to mount and competitive in price and quality.

6 RENOVATION Besides the fact that we produce complete composite bridges, we can also replace parts like, as an example, a road deck on an existing steel or wooden structure. BIJL has a team that can execute for you the following works: The removal of the old (wooden) road deck planks The mounting of the BIJL composite planks The cleaning and tidy delivery of the bridge We work for various municipalities, water board districts, semi-government institutes, companies and private persons. If you want a maintenance-poor and durable solution, then please contact us. Our bridges are practically maintenance-free but however we advise for esthetical and safety reasons to clean the bridge annually and to inspect for possible damages. The planks are available in stock. Most sizes are in stock at a length of 5, 6 and 7 meters by which sawing losses are limited up to a minimum. Also, in case of sufficient numbers, tailor-made production is possible. The planks are applied as a covering element on: bridges, platforms, scaffolds, stairs, gangplanks, parking garages and renovation of bridges. I girder 240 x 150 for flat bridges and a composed girder (variable in height) for arched bridges. BIJL Railing Various versions of railings are possible. BIJL Wearing course The bond of our wearing course is very good and is applied by us in the factory or at your location. There is a choice from various grain sizes and colours.

9 BIJL CLOSED DECKS BIJL closed decks, suitable for a vehicle up to 10 tons axle load. BIJL is building road decks as our clients wish so. That s why you have the option to choose, next to standard road decks, also for road decks that are fully closed and that are executed and supplied seamless. The planks are glued together at the underside and after that we provide the road deck with an extra glass fibre mat that is applied between the composite planks and the wearing course. Thus the deck consists of one piece that can be mounted in one time. The closed decks are Prefab, maintenance-poor, very light, easy to mount and have a short mounting time by which the traffic is not hindered too long. The closed decks are applied on top of composite, steel, wooden and hybrid substructures. With the BIJL plank 400 x 85 mm we produce decks that are suitable for a vehicle of up to 10 tons axle load.
