3 2.02 MATERIALS A. Fence Fabric 1. Steel wire with Black Vinyl coating (unless otherwise noted on plans). 2. Wire Size: 8 gauge finish with 11 gauge core (vinyl coated). 3. Height: Fabric height six (6) feet high unless otherwise noted on plans 4. Mesh Size: 2 inches 5. Selvage: Knuckled top edge B. Steel Framework (coated to match fence fabric color) 1. Round post manufactured from high tensile steel pipe cold formed and welded per ASTM F1043, Group IC., having minimum yield strength of 50,000 PSI. The external zinc coating shall be Type B zinc with 0.9oz/ft 2 (0.27 kg/m2). The internal coating shall be Type B zinc with 0.9oz/ft 2 (0.27 kg/m2) or Type D, 81% nominal zinc pigmented coating, with 0.3 mils ( mm) minimum thickness. 2. Line Posts: 2-1/2 inches OD weighing 3.12 lbs per linear ft. In locations shown, Contractor shall replace every other fence post with 3 inches OD weighing 4.64 lbs. per linear ft 20' above grade, a total of 16 extended posts. Refer to site plan for extended post placements. Contractor shall submit shop drawing prior to ordering. 3. End Posts and Corner Posts 3 inches OD weighing 4.64 lbs. per linear ft. 4. Gate Posts: 3 inches OD weighing 4.64 lbs. per linear ft. 5. Horizontal Railing: Top rail inches OD weighing 1.83 lbs. per linear ft supplied in 21 length. Bottom rail and bracing shall be the same as specified for top rail. 6. Middle Tension Wire No 7 gauge, coil-spring wire fastened to the chain link fabric at intervals of 24 inches with No.11 gauge steel hog rings. C. Fittings 1. Fittings and other appurtenances of galvanized press steel, malleable or cast steel. D Swing Gates 1. Swing Gates shall be fabricated and coated to meet the requirements of ASTM F Gates shall be installed with lockable fork latches. E Sliding Gates 1. Swing Gates shall be fabricated and coated to meet the requirements of ASTM F SOURCE QUALITY CONTROL A. Fabric: manufactured in accordance with ASTM F392 B. Fence Fittings: manufactured in accordance ASTM F626 C. Fence Framework: manufactured in accordance ASTM F1043 D. Swing Gates: manufactured in accordance ASTM F900 PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 MANUFACTURER S INSTRUCTIONS A. Compliance: Comply with manufacturer s product data, including product technical bulletins EXAMINATION Chain Link Fence

4 A. Site Verification of Conditions: Verify existing conditions, which have been previously constructed under other sections, are acceptable for product installation in accordance with manufacturer s instructions 3.03 INSTALLATION A. Install chain-link fence systems where indicated on drawings B. Install chain-link fence systems in accordance with Manufacturer s latest printed instructions, recommendations, and approved shop drawings. Meet requirements of ASTM F567 C. Installation shall be made in a workmanlike manner by skilled mechanics experienced in erection of this type of fence. D. The fence shall be erected on line and to grade as shown on the drawings. E. All posts shall be set in concrete foundations in the ground to a minimum depth of 36 inches, extend concrete foundation 6 below bottom of post. F. Diameter of the foundation shall be a minimum of 12 inches, except foundations for gate and end posts which shall have a minimum diameter of 16 inches. G. All foundations shall extend approximately 2 above grade and shall be sloped away from the post to provide for proper drainage. H. Post spacing to be no more than 10 feet on center. I. Gates shall hang plumb and true, and swing easily either direction with no interference. Locations shown on plan are approximate. Exact locations shall work with post spacing and shall be approved by Engineer. Use lockable fork latches. J. Fence fabric shall be fastened to the railing at intervals of 12 O.C. with fabric ties and joined by 6 long sleeves and run continuously along the top of the fence through openings provided in the line post tops. K. Fence fabric to be stretched taught to where there is no movement in the mesh when compressed. K. Touch-up scratched factory finished surfaces in accordance with manufacturer s recommendations. L. Repair or replace damaged installed products CLEANING A. Remove temporary coverings. B. Clean installed products in accordance with manufacturer s instructions prior to Owner s acceptance PROTECTION A. Protect installed product s finish surfaces from damage during construction. 6 NOTICE TO RESPONDENTS Responses to an Invitation to Bid will be received by the Purchasing Coordinator in the SUPORT SERVICE FACILITY CONFERENCE ROOM, Sumner County Board of Education, 1500 Airport Road Gallatin, TN They will be received until 9:00 A.M. Local Time TUESDAY, AUGUST 20, 2013 for MHM, at which time the responses will be opened, taken under advisement and evaluated. BIDS WILL BE POSTED ON GENERAL REQUIREMENTS AND CONDITIONS 1. The Sumner County Board of Education reserves the right to accept or reject any and/or all responses in whole or in part, and to waive informalities therein. 2. Any responses received after the scheduled closing time for the receipt for responses will not be considered. 3. If a mistake is discovered after the responses are received, only the Sumner County Board of Education may allow the respondent to withdraw the entire response. 4. Partial payments will not be approved unless justification for such payment can be shown. Terms will be net 30 days. 5. Payment will not be made until the said MHM are inspected and approved as meeting all specifications by persons appointed by the Sumner County Board of Education. 6. Responses submitted must be in a sealed envelope and marked on the outside as follows: RESPONSE: MHM DEADLINE: 9:00 A.M. TUESDAY, AUGUST 20, Facsimile responses will not be considered. 8. If a successful bidder violates any terms of their bid, the contract, school board policy or any law they may be disqualified from bidding for a period of two years for minor violations or longer for major violations. Bids from disqualified bidders will not be accepted during the period of disqualification. 9. Prices quoted on the response (if any) are to be considered firm and binding until the said MHM are in the possession of the Sumner County Board of Education. 10. No purchase or contract is authorized or valid until the issuance of a Board Purchase Order in accordance with Board Policy. No Board Employee is authorized to purchase equipment, supplies or services prior to the issuance of such a Purchase Order. 11. Any deviation from these stated terms, specifications and conditions must be coordinated with and approved in writing by the Purchasing Coordinator, Vicky Currey (615) All bids that exceed $25,000 must have the Company Name, License Number, Expiration Date thereof and License Classification of Contractor listed on outside of sealed envelope. As required by State of Tennessee Code Annotated The awarded bidder will be required to post a performance and payment bond in the amount of 25% of the contract price if it exceeds $100,000 as stated by State of Tennessee Code Annotated If the project cost in excess of $25,000 a performance bond must be secured by the requesting party in an amount equal to the market improvement value.
