Product Data: For each type of product indicated. 1. For all accessories specified, include construction details, dimensions, materials, finishes, bearings and compliance with applicable codes. 2. For duct silencers/sound attenuators, include pressure drop and dynamic insertion loss data. Include breakout noise calculations for high transmission loss casings. B. Shop Drawings: For duct accessories. Include plans, elevations, sections, details and attachments to other work. 1. Detail duct accessories fabrication and installation in ducts and other construction. Include dimensions, weights, loads, and required clearances; and method of field assembly into duct systems and other construction. Include the a. Special fittings. b. Manual volume damper installations. c. Control damper installations. d. Fire-damper, smoke-damper, combination fire- and smoke-damper, installations, including sleeves; and duct-mounted access doors and remote damper operators. e. Duct security bars. f. Wiring Diagrams: For power, signal, and control wiring. 2. Duct silencers/sound attenuators: a. Connection details, manufacturer s installation instructions and installation requirements to maintain integrity of sound isolation. b. Test reports indicating dynamic insertion loss and noise generation values of silencers/attenuators. C. Coordination Drawings: Reflected ceiling plans, drawn to scale, on which ceiling-mounted access panels and access doors required for access to duct accessories are shown and coordinated with each other, using input from Installers of the items involved. D. Source quality-control reports. E. Operation and Maintenance Data: For air duct accessories to include in operation and maintenance manuals. 1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Comply with NFPA 90A, "Installation of Air Conditioning and Ventilating Systems," and with NFPA 90B, "Installation of Warm Air Heating and Air Conditioning Systems." B. Comply with AMCA 500-D testing for damper rating. C. Demonstrate resetting of fire dampers to authorities having jurisdiction and Owner s representatives. 1.5 EXTRA MATERIALS A. Furnish extra materials that match products installed and that are packaged with protective covering for storage and identified with labels describing contents. 1. Fusible Links: Furnish quantity equal to 10 percent of amount installed, or a minimum quantity of five of each type installed. 2. Fire Dampers: In addition to quantity indicated on drawings furnish ten (10) additional fire dampers 24x24 or equivalent size per each floor in North Terminal and 10 per each floor for each Concourse B and C. 5. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 MATERIALS A. Comply with SMACNA's "HVAC Duct Construction Standards - Metal and Flexible" for acceptable materials, material thicknesses, and duct construction methods unless otherwise indicated. Sheet metal materials shall be free of pitting, seam marks, roller marks, stains, discolorations, and other imperfections. B. Galvanized Sheet Steel: Comply with ASTM A 653/A 653M. 1. Galvanized Coating Designation: G Exposed-Surface Finish: Mill phosphatized. C. Stainless-Steel Sheets: Comply with ASTM A 480/A 480M, Type 304, and having a No. 2 finish for concealed ducts and one-sided bright finish for exposed ducts. D. Aluminum Sheets: Comply with ASTM B 209, Alloy 3003, Temper H14; with mill finish for concealed ducts and standard, 1-side bright finish for exposed ducts. E. Extruded Aluminum: Comply with ASTM B 221, Alloy 6063, Temper T6. F. Reinforcement Shapes and Plates: Galvanized-steel reinforcement where installed on galvanized sheet metal ducts; compatible materials for aluminum and stainless-steel ducts. G. Tie Rods: Galvanized steel, 1/4-inch minimum diameter for lengths 36 inches or less; 3/8-inch minimum diameter for lengths longer than 36 inches. 2.2 MANUAL VOLUME DAMPERS A. Length and Number of Mountings: As required to connect linkage of each damper in multiple-damper assembly. D. Damper Hardware: 1. Zinc-plated, die-cast core with quadrant and lever handle made of 3/32-inch- thick zincplated steel, and a lockscrew. 2. Include center hole to suit damper operating-rod size. 3. Include elevated platform to clear insulation for insulated duct mounting. 2.3 CONTROL DAMPERS A. Control dampers shall be furnished by the BMS Contractor for installation by the Mechanical Contractor. Refer to Specification Section and the BMS drawings. 2.4 FIRE DAMPERS 1. Frame: Multiple-blade type; fabricated with roll-formed, inch- thick galvanized steel; with mitered and interlocking corners. E. Blades: Roll-formed, horizontal, interlocking, inch- thick, galvanized sheet steel. In place of interlocking blades, use full-length, inch- thick, galvanized-steel blade connectors. F. Leakage: Class I or Class II depending on system. G. Rated pressure and velocity to exceed design airflow conditions. H. Mounting Sleeve: Factory-installed, inch- thick, galvanized sheet steel; length to suit wall or floor application. I. Damper Actuators: Two-position action. J. Install volume dampers at points on supply, return, and exhaust systems where branches extend from larger ducts and as indicated, a minimum of 3 feet from outlets, or as near to the branch take-off at the main duct.. Where dampers are installed in ducts having duct liner, install dampers with hat channels of same depth as liner, and terminate liner with nosing at hat channel. 1. Install duct silencers, acoustic housing and acoustical louvers in accordance with manufacturer s instructions. 2. Support duct silencers rigidly to ductwork. 3. Attach ductwork to acoustical louvers with flexible duct connectors. 4. Lag ductwork, where indicated, by wrapping with insulation and covering. Apply covering to be airtight. Do not attach overing rigidly to ductwork. J. Install duct access doors on sides of ducts to allow for inspecting, adjusting, and maintaining accessories and equipment at the following locations: 1. On both sides of duct coils. 2. Upstream and downstream from duct filters. 3. At outdoor-air intakes and mixed-air plenums. 4. At drain pans and seals. 5. Downstream from manual volume dampers, control dampers, backdraft dampers, and equipment. 6. Adjacent to and close enough to fire or smoke dampers, to reset or reinstall fusible links. Connect diffusers to ducts directly or with maximum 3660-inch lengths of flexible duct clamped or strapped in place. Seal with tape and provide with 90 degree elbow brace similar to Titus FlexRight. ADD #12 R. Connect flexible ducts to metal ducts with draw bands, adhesive plus sheet metal screws. Attach to supply air duct with low entrance loss, bellmouth type connector at air inlet end. S. Install duct test holes where required for testing and balancing purposes. T. Install thrust limits at centerline of thrust, symmetrical on both sides of equipment. Attach thrust limits at centerline of thrust and adjust to a maximum of 1/4-inch movement during start and stop of fans. U. Install wire mesh screen grilles at return air ducts in hung ceilings and in other places where indicated. Bolt grilles to flanged connections or ducts at terminations. V. Install louvers in building construction at locations where indicated. Coordinate mounting details with particular building construction and/or window framing details. Install blank-off panels at unused portions of louvers; secured with bolts and/or screws. W. Air Flow Measuring Stations 1. Install air flow measuring stations where indicated, or as directed by engineer. 2. Install all interconnecting tubing between measuring station, companion meter and control systems, in accordance with the manufacturer s printed instructions. X. Install air blenders in accordance with the manufacturer s recommendations. 3.2 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL A. Tests and Inspections: 1. Operate dampers to verify full range of movement. 2. Provide services of an AABC or NEBB testing agency to take noise measurements. Use meters meeting requirements of ASA 47 (ANSI S1.4). B. After start-up, and final corrections and balancing of systems, take octave band sound measurements over full audio frequency range in areas adjacent to mechanical equipment rooms, duct and pipe shafts, and other critical locations, as directed. C. Provide one-third octave band measurements of artificial sound sources in areas indicated as having critical requirements. D. Submit complete report of test results including sound curves. 3.4 COMMISSIONING A. Comply with commissioning process procedures and requirements as specified in Division HVAC System Commissioning, and Division 01 General Requirements, in addition to the commissioning requirements in each section.
