1 Technical Specification: 23-T3 Bitutainer Tanks TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION FOR 20 x 8 x 8 6 ISO ICC TYPE TANK CONTAINER FOR BULK BITUMEN (UN T3 CODE) PREFACE This specification covers design, construction, testing, inspection and function target and performance requirement for UN T3 type bitumen tank containers. 2 . General. Operation environment The tank containers are suitable for the transportation of bulk bitumen by rail, road and ships throughout the world. All materials used in the construction shall withstand extremes of temperature range from -20 C to 230 C without effecting on the strength of the container..2 Standard and Regulations This container will satisfy the following requirements and regulations, unless otherwise mentioned in this specification..2. ISO/TC - 04 ISO668 - Series freight containers - classification, external dimension and rating. ISO Series freight containers - coding, identification and marking. ISO830 - Terminology in relation to freight container. ISO6 - Series freight containers - corner fittings specification. ISO496/3 - Tank container - test specification. ASME - American Society of Mechanical Engineering/Class VIII Div.. IMDG- International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code.2.2 CSC approval and plating.2.3 TIR type approval and registration..2.4 UIC approval and registration via a National Railway Authority for transportation on European Railway..2.5 Appliance and/or approvals of IMDG, US/DOT, UK/DOT,ADR/RID AND FRA..2.6 CTC.2.7 AAR Type approval and individual inspection by a classification society in accordance with their freight container certification..3 Handling These tank containers will be constructed to be capable of being handled without any permanent deformation under the following conditions:.3. Lifting, full or empty, at top corner fittings vertically by means of speeder fixed with hooks, shackles or twist-locks..3.2 Lifting, full or empty, at bottom corner fittings using slings with terminal fittings at any angles between vertical and 45 degrees to the horizontal. 3 .4 Transportation These tank containers will be constructed to be capable of being without permanent deformation under the following conditions:.4. Marine: In the ship cell guides, Nine (9) high stacked.(max gross weight 24,000kg),the test load per corner post is 86,400kg. 4 3 Materials 3. Materials used for the construction of this container shall be of the best quality conforming to JIS standard or equivalent. 5 4. Construction 4. Tank container frames(full frame structure) The tank container frames shall be mainly composed of front and rear end frames, two(2)top side rails, two(2) bottom side rails,four(4) side posts, two(2) saddles, four (4)side slanting bars, four(4) top slanting bars, four(4) bottom slanting bars and eight (8) corner fittings. 4.. Each end frame consists of two (2) corner posts, two (2) end rails, four (4) end slanting bars and four (4) corner casting. Which are welded together as a sub-assembly The corner castings will be designed in accordance with ISO 6 and manufactured at the works approved by classification society Each corner post is made of 50x50x6.0mm thick square tube Top and bottom end rails are made of 00x00x3.0mm thick steel square tubes Each end slanting bar is made of 80x60x3.0mm thick steel rectangular tube Each bottom side rail is made of 50x00x4.5mm thick rectangular tube Each top side rail is made of 00x00x3mm thick square tube Each side post is made of 00x50x4.0mm thick rectangular tube Each side slanting bar is made of 00x50x3.0mm thick rectangular tube Each top cross-member is made of 00x50x3.0mm thick rectangular tube Each top and bottom slanting bar is made of 50x50x3.0mm thick square tube Each saddle is mainly constructed of one() saddle cross-member,two(2) pieces of webs and one () arched strip,welded together to form a hollow section to ensure suitable strength to support tank weight. 4.2 Tank body The tank body shall be of welded construction consisting of one () cylindrical shell, two (2) dish ends, one () manhole and some tank accessories The tank cylindrical shell is made of 6.0 mm thick, Q235B vessel steel plate, the internal diameter is 2300mm Each dish end is made of 8.0 mm thick Q235B vessel steel plate and shaped by hot pressing procedure. The minimum thickness of the head is not less than 5mm after forming. Dish end Torispherical Crown radius: 2300mm Knuckle radius: 230mm The manhole in 500mm diameter is composed of one() short cylinder, one() cover, one()hinge, one()seal ring, six(6)hand nuts and six(6)eye-bolts. Probe Insertion type 4 discharge valve with a blind flange Model: 00LQ4F-0 Material: Carbon steel /2 thread type end sensor bracket and plug Pressure setting: 2.2bar/-0.2bar Capacity: 870m3/hr Working temp. 250 C Tank shall be hydrostatically tested at 2.63bar and during the test; the tank should not show water leakage and permanent deformation NDE requirements Shell J.E=0.85 (Radiography: 20%) Head J.E= (Radiography: 00%) All t-junctions to be x-rayed. 4.3 Heating system The tank inside shall be fitted with two pairs of heating pipes running from rear to front and back to rear with exhaust at the top. Heating pipes are fastened by U bolts. Diameter of heating pipes is 29mm (at flame area) and 59mm (at other area). Two diesel burners installed at the inlet of each heating pipe will carry out heating. Material of the heating pipes: 20-GB3087 (boiler steel seamless pipe) Page 5 of 8

7 4.4 Thermal insulation The outer surface of the tank shall be covered with 50mm thick Rock-wool with its density of 80 kg/m3 and thermal conductivity of 0.044w/m2.k. The outer surface of the insulation shall be cladded with 0.8mm thickness galvanized steel sheets. The cladding shall be riveted to the support rings welded to tank. Temperature is to decline not more than.5 C per hour (under general conditions, ambient temperature of 25 C to 30 C) 4.5 External fittings 4.5. Walkways To be provided with one longitudinal walkway and three short transverse walks at the front and rear of the container and adjacent to rear of man-way spill-box Ladder To be provided on the left hand of the rear and front end frames Earthing lug A stainless steel earthing lug 60x60x5mm shall be positioned on the rear end frame adjacent to the bottom outlet. The lug has a 20mm hole in the center Spill boxes To provide one large spill box around manhole, relief valve and airline valve, and small spill box around top inlet. The large one is provided with two pieces of drain tubes draining to the bottom part of the container Customs sealing The tank container shall be equipped with fittings to accept customs strap type seals in accordance with TIR requirements. 5. Preservation 5. Surface preparation of the steelwork All carbon steel surfaces - prior to forming or after - will be fully abrasive shot blasted to Sa2.5 to remove all rust, dirt, mill scale and all other foreign materials. 5.2 Coating 5.2. Prior to assembly The entire steel surface will be coated with primer paint immediately after shot-blasting After assembly All the weld joints will be short-blasted to remove all the welding fluxes, spatters, burnt primer coatings caused by welding heating, and foreign materials, and followed with the secondary paint operating immediately. 8 5.2.3 All the surface of the assembly container will have coating system as follow: Framework Tank inner Tank outer Cladding outer Zinc rich primer 30 Mic Mic 50 Epoxy primer 40 Mic Epoxy high build coating Galver primer 0~20 Mic Acrylic coating 40 Mic 50 Mic Total 0 Mic Mic ~70 Mic The area of the discharge box at the rear shall be coated with heat-resistance paint. 6. Markings 6. The container shall be properly marked in accordance with owner s requirements, ISO, UIC recommendation. 6.2 Marking shall be self adhesive cast vinyl. 6.3 Consolidate palate will be fitted to the regulated location at the rear end frames with stainless steel blind rivets. Blind rivets and plate perimeter to be caulked with sealant. 7. Test and Inspection 7. Prototype test A prototype container shall be manufactured in accordance with this specification approved by classification society and to be tested according to IS0,IMO,IMDG,US/DOT,UK/DOT,RID/ADR,UIC,CTC,AAR600,CSC and custom s requirements. Type test facility and procedure shall be approved and all the tests to be witnessed by the Classification Society Lloyds Register Netherlands. 7.2 Inspection of production line Every tank container shall be inspected by the surveyor of the authorized classification society and identified with the appropriate survey seal. Each container will be manufactured under effective quality-control supervision to meet the specified standard. Page 7 of 8
