4 ABOUT CARPET TILES Carpet tiles, with their outstanding modular functionality, are tailor-made for use in contract spaces. At Tai Ping, this versatility is enhanced by our understanding of contemporary design, environmental sensibilities and state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities. Tai Ping Contract s carpet tile collections mark the convergence of ten years experience in the carpet tile industry with the signature aesthetic for which Tai Ping is known. FRAME OF REFERENCE Frame of Reference is the debut collection from Tai Ping Contract. Its overriding inspiration is shakkei, an ancient principle native to Asian architecture and landscape design. Roughly translated as borrowed scenery, the term refers to precisely-placed architectural elements and their relationship with their natural surroundings. Shakkei advocates placement, sensitivity, and harmony in the built environment, which is also an expression of our hopes for this collection. Frame of Reference is comprised of three distinct patterns Portal, Threshold, and Transom in 12 shared colourways. Evoking the principals of shakkei, the patterns suggest organic motifs inside subtle, orderly frames. With this collection, Tai Ping Contract presents a collection that is quintessentially Tai Ping in both style and concept and meets the aesthetic, functional, and environmental requirements of the modern executive work space.

7 PORTAL Portal, with its elegant framed surround, provides a discreet opening to a less structured, organic landscape. Inspired by the windows that lead to ancient Asian gardens, Portal allows the interior foreground and distant, exterior background to merge. The result is a uniquely bold yet soft pattern that immediately identifies high-profile spaces.

19 ENVIRONMENT At Tai Ping we recognise that our choices have implications for our customers, our associates, and our environment. We believe it is our responsibility to invest the same level of care and craft into using and managing resources as we do in creating our carpets. Tai Ping knows that environmental actions go beyond the cliché of green. Our environmental focus, which has been a part of our process for the last 50 years, centres on three specific areas: Materials, Certification and Social responsibility: We believe the Materials we use must meet environmental standards and the same high level of quality reflected in our products. We believe Certification of our products by credible third parties is crucial as it provides impartial and verifiable claims that benefit our clients and our industry. We believe we have a Social Responsibility to our employees and the communities in which we operate. MATERIALS Wool sets the standard to which other fibres aspire. Instead of trying to replicate the qualities of wool in a synthetic material, Tai Ping Contract has elected to use 100% wool itself. Wool is also a rapidly renewable material that reinforces the company s commitment to meaningful environmental action. Tai Ping sources its face fibres from some of the world s most environmentally-aware producers. Wool s association with luster and luxury is matched by technical attributes exhibited by no other fibre. Flame-resistance, smoke-retardation and soil-repellence are naturally inherent attributes of wool, making it a superior choice for tufted carpet tiles. Tai Ping is working towards a goal of zero waste. To us, that means eliminating waste in our manufacturing processes and recycling waste products wherever possible. PREMISE TM, Tai Ping Carpet s tile backing system, is comprised of 80% post consumer recycled content. Environmental benefits aside, PREMISE TM also provides the underfoot comfort and sound insulation necessary for executive spaces. Over the past two years, our PREMISE TM backing has been successfully installed throughout Asia and the Pacific Rim with outstanding performance results.

20 CONTRIBUTING TO GREEN BUILDING Our products contribute to the dominant rating systems around the globe. In accordance with LEED standards, our products support the rapidly renewable credits in the Existing Building standard; credits 4.1, 4.2 for post-consumer credits; and credit 6 for rapidly renewable content in New Construction and Commercial Interiors. 21 SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Tai Ping has made it a goal to exceed labour requirements for its manufacturing operations in Thailand, adopting the rigorous TLS 8001 labour standard. The result has been increased employee satisfaction and a reduction in turnover. Tai Ping takes seriously its commitment to the community of workers that makes its business possible. CERTIFICATIONS Tai Ping supports the independent, third-party product verification process. While we do not disparage first party claims, we recognise that our customers need and appreciate manufacturers to participate in independent vetting processes guided by national and international standards. Our broadloom and tile products have all achieved the Carpet and Rug Institute s Green Label Plus certification. Starting in 2009, our products will receive certification through the NSF 140 certification process, the first multi-attribute sustainability standard in the building industry that touches every aspect of the triple bottom line and accounts for impacts throughout the supply chain. Throughout all our factories, programs are in place that consistently measure usage of water and energy, emissions and waste per square meter of carpet produced. These enable us to manage the reduction of both consumption and waste on a continuous basis. For years we have certified our manufacturing facilities in accordance with ISO requirements. Since 2000, our tile factory in Thailand achieved the ISO 9001 quality management certification and has been certified to ISO 14001, the environmental management system, since 2004.
