2 VITA SHADING PASTE Assortment Since VITABLOCS are not offered in all VITA SYSTEM D-MASTER shades, the shade guide-block classification table can be used for safe reproduction of shades with VITA SHADING PASTE, which are not available as blocks. Please bear in mind that both the monochromatic VITA- BLOCS Mark II and the multichromatic VITABLOCS TriLuxe and TriLuxe forte are not layered like shade sample teeth and therefore the shades of D-Master Toothguide and the respective block or VITABLOCS Guide are not identical, which is indicated by the additional letter "C" next to the shade designation on the block. The VITA SHADING PASTE assortment for VITABLOCS for CEREC/inLab D-MASTER includes new ready-to-use stain pastes which can be used especially for simple and fast characterization of restorations made of the fine-structure feldspar ceramic VITABLOCS Mark II, TriLuxe and TriLuxe forte for CEREC/inLab in D-MASTER shades. All shades are fluorescent except of the fumo pastes SP, SP and SP 6. The pastes feature a fine-grain consistency and their fluorescence creates natural shades. They exhibit uniform consistency and homogeneous pigment content. Processing information Preparing the restoration Use fine-grain diamond grinding tools (0 µm), exert slight pressure and cool with water to shape the surface of the restoration to be characterized. Then grinding dust must be carefully removed. Degrease with alcohol. Since grinding of sintered dental ceramic products produces dust, always wear a face mask or grind when wet. Additionally, use an extraction unit and work behind a protective screen. All shades can be mixed with each other to achieve the desired shade effects. The enclosed VITA SHADING PASTE LIQUID is used to change the consistency and to control the intensity (chroma). The intensity (chroma) can also be controlled by adding Akzent finishing agent to the mixture. It can also be used as a glaze material in combination with VITA SHADING PASTE LIQUID. Any microporosities resulting from the application of the shade can be sealed. Individualizing The pastes must be stirred with the enclosed glass spatula prior to the use. A brush is used to apply a thin layer of VITA SHADING PASTE to the outer surfaces of the restoration. Generally, it is recommended not to apply too much paste.

3 Guidelines for chacterization of the shade of veneers The following guidelines create a basis and need to be adapted to the respective patient. After the selection of the shade with the VITA Toothguide D-MASTER and then with the VITABLOCS-Guide D-MASTER, it is recommended to select a ceramic block in accordance with the classification table (see page ). Based on the mixing chart, only little material is applied to individually adapt the hue and the chroma. Please note that the basic shade (hue) is already available once the correct block has been selected and staining only aims to obtain an additional fine tint. The SP birch shade is added to the basic mixture to create special effects such as vague stains or used for brightening single ridges in occlusals. SP 9 niagara is used on incisal areas of anterior or posterior teeth which require special bluish effects. When using VITABLOCS TriLuxe and TriLuxe forte, glaze firing is sufficient in most cases. Thanks to the layering the shade almost always appears to be sufficiently intensive in the patient's mouth. Mixture of the shade is based on the basic shade of the TriLuxe blocks / TriLuxe forte MC, MC or MC. If required, the consistency can be changed by adding VITA SHADING PASTE LIQUID to the mixture. The intensity (chroma) can be reduced by mixing Akzent finishing agent with the SHADING PASTES. Important: VITA SHADING PASTE must not be fired to the inner surfaces of the restoration to be characterized to ensure sufficient bonding to the tooth substance. To have the incisal edge appear somewhat more fluorescent for all block shades, the SP 08 mauve shade from the VITA SHADING PASTE classic set can be used since this shade appears only to be lighter and not very bluish after firing. This way fine individual shade reproduction is achieved.
