S i d z a b d a D j i b r i l D A Y A M B A, P h D d.dayamba@cgiar.org PERSONAL DETAILS: Date and Place of Birth: October 2 nd, 1980 Diabo / Burkina Faso Civil Status: Married Nationality: Burkinabe PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE 1 July 2015 now: World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) West and Central Africa Region, Sahel Node/ Position: Postdoctoral fellow Climate-smart Agriculture My responsibilities include: Support the implementation of participatory action research on climate smart agriculture in the sites of the five countries of the research programme Climate Change Agriculture and Food Security - CCAFS WA (Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali, Niger and Senegal) Identify synergies between adaptation and mitigation (A&M) as well as training needs for the West African situation Support the implementation of any bilateral climate resilience project of the WA portfolio Develop and manage country level partnerships with national and international organizations of the five countries where the program is being implemented PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE 2 June 2013 July 2015: Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), West Africa Regional Office. Position: Research Assistant I was involved in two research projects: The first was a USAID-funded Carbon measurement project where my responsibilities include: Leading and managing research/fieldwork necessary to achieve the project field base objectives; processing databases related to the project and performing data analysis; Conducting literature search and reviewing on ecosystem based adaptation, synergies between adaptation and mitigation; Contribute to the planning and implementation of research activities related to synergies between adaptation and mitigation; preparing publications and research results/reports; In the second project Restoration and reclamation of mined-out areas and other degraded lands for biodiversity conservation and rural development in Burkina Faso: a chance for local people? funded by Volkswagen Foundation, I am the Principal investigator and my responsibilities include: Interact with donor for specific administrative issues and ensure preparation of funds request document and interact with donor for the availability of funds Ensure planning and implementation of research activities and ensure that the project field base objectives are reached by leading the design of tools (questionnaires etc.), establishing field contacts and supervising students/assistants for the conduct of the activities Ensure processing of databases related to the project and perform data analysis

2 Ensure preparation of research results/reports and prepare manuscripts for submission in scientific journals; Participate to relevant national / international conferences Ensure preparation of project technical and financial report PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE 3 February 2011 May 2013: Burkinabe National Competent Authority for Biosafety (Agence Nationale de Biosécurité), Ouagadougou Acted as National Focal Point for Biosafety Clearing House (NFP-BCH) and main responsibilities included: Contribute to establishing participatory framework for biosafety decision making and promote public awareness, information and training in Biotechnology and Biosafety ; Participate to the National Scientific Committee for Biosafety which was in charge of risk assessment of genetically modified organisms (GMO); Train the public (educational institutions) to using BCH website Write GMO risk assessment reports, for posting on BCH website; Organize any other biosafety workshops for ANB; Participate to any other activities at ANB. PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE 4 January 2006 to October 2010: Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Sweden) and Institut de l Environnement et de Recherches Agricoles (INERA) of Burkina Faso PhD student involved in a long term research experiment conducted by the Department of Forest Production of Institut de l'environnement et de Recherches Agricoles (DPF-INERA) in Burkina Faso, on the ecology and management of forest ecosystems in the Sudanian savanna-woodlands. I specifically assessed Regeneration, Productivity and Diversity of the Sudanian Savanna-woodland Ecosystem under disturbance factors such as fire (and related cues), grazing and wood-cutting. INVOLVEMENT IN PARTNER PROJECT C/O Institut de l Environnement et de Recherche Agricoles (INERA / Burkina Faso) Co-implementation of WVF funded project Restoration and reclamation of mined-out areas and other degraded lands for biodiversity conservation and rural development in Burkina Faso: a chance for local people? funded by Volkswagen Foundation. MENTORING ABILITY 1. In my current work, I collaborate with the countries teams for the implementation of projects activities: 2. In my work at CIFOR I supervised a team of 10 people (Forest Technicians and field crew) for the conduct of project field based activities; I also supervising the work of 2 MSc students who successfully defended their theses. 3. While at the National Biosafety Authority, I supervised the work of two Environmental technicians 4. As a PhD student, I supervised the work of younger fellows 2
