1 Campus Address 008C Ag Hall, Natural Resources Ecology & Management, Oklahoma State University, OK Curriculum Vitae SHISHIR PAUDEL Phone: (C) (O) Education PhD Plant Biology (Community Ecology and Invasion Ecology track) Southern Illinois University Carbondale, IL. May 2013 Major advisor: Loretta L. Battaglia MS Biology (Biodiversity, Ecology, & Evolution) University of Bergen, Norway, January 2006 MSc Botany (Ecology track), Tribhuvan University, Nepal, December 2000 Research Overview My research focuses on two broad topics: community structure and biological invasions. Specifically, I am interested in determining the effects of climate change, extreme events, and disturbance on biological invasions and their subsequent effects on the structure and functionality of plant communities. My research therefore lies at the interface of community and ecosystem ecology. My research is multidimensional in that I work in many different systems (aquatic, wetlands, and terrestrial communities). I use both univariate and multivariate statistics to evaluate effects of physical factors and biological invasion on structure, distribution and function of the communities. Positions held and Professional Experiences 01/14-Present Post Doctorate Fellow: Natural Resources, Ecology, and Management (NREM), Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, OK Department of Defense (DOD) and The US NAVY Research Project: Investigating the spatial extent and ecological effects of non-native earthworms in the historically Earthworm-free San Clemente Island, California (SCI). Duties: Lead field study, supervise technician, gather data, analyze, prepare reports to the funding agency and publish research finding in scientific journals. Co-teach undergraduate course NREM 3012: Applied Ecology and Conservation lab (offer every fall semester) 06/13-12/13 Project Specialist: Manage three large federal programs in STEM education, Noyce Masters Teaching Fellowship, Green Scholarship, and SI Bridges, SIUC. Oversaw daily administrative responsibilities and organized workshops, seminars and taught undergraduate and graduate level classes in science and environmental education on campus and online.
