16 Rotation Length Mapping Expensive to calculate for every map pixel (6.25ha 250mx250m) ForestGALES + other models have to run over 200 years Current approach, assume a default soil type, management regime for a given species. Calculate growth rate from yield potential model (ESC) Run for each site dams class (3-36) Calculate rotation length to a specified acceptable level of risk. Use precalculated information to lookup results by DAMS/Yield for a given site or generate simple model from data. 16

20 Conclusions Wind risk models are utilised as part of a suite of models to answer questions at different temporal and spatial scales. Deployment of tools to end users requires understanding of their requirements and operating constraints. So many potential delivery channels (GIS, Web, Mobile, Paper based ) Vulnerability of landscape scale forestry related tools if open data licenses ceased. More training and user engagement required. 20
