2 Mar. '80 May '83: May '83 Oct. '85: "Silviconsult Ltd". I was responsible for the coordination and reporting of forest technical projects for the wider Mediterranean and North-African regions. Employed at the Agricultural Coop of Grevena with main responsibility the planning and organization of Forest Coop(s) and the planning, foundation, and management of the cooperative Forest Wood Industry (MDF) in Grevena. One year detachment to the Panhellenic Confederation of Agricultural Coop (ΠΑΣΕΓΕΣ) in Athens to enable the participation to various working groups of the Ministry of Agriculture related to the forest and cooperative development of the country (Five-year program for the development of the Greek Silviculture, Law on cooperatives, cooperative wood industries, etc.). Employed at the Institute for Forest Research in Thessaloniki as a permanent employee of the Ministry of Agriculture. As a prime researcher at the Department of Silviculture and Forest Genetics I have worked on the preparation, planning and installation of two new research project of the Department of Silviculture. Apart from the research activities I have participated during this period in various working groups of the Ministry of Agriculture related to the foundation of the Cooperative Wood Industries of Grevena, Evritania and Epirus as well as in the preparation of a strategic plan for the development of Greek Silviculture and a feasibility study for the research staff needed for the Ministry of Agriculture. Moreover, I participated as a special researched in various national representations of the Greek Ministry of Agriculture to other countries (Sweden, Soviet Union, Bulgaria). Oct. '85 today: Professor at the Department of Forestry, Technical Educational Institute (TEI) of Larissa, Brach of Karditsa with main responsibility the fields of Silviculture and Forest Ecology. Upon assumption of my duties at the Department I became the Department Head (08/11/1985), and continued as the Head for two more two-year terms (17/12/86 & 23/05/88), acting at the same time as the Dean of the Branch of Karditsa of TEI Larisas. Apart from my administrative duties I was and still be responsible for the courses of Forestry I and II, for which dedicated lecture notes have been prepared. Lecture notes have been prepared as well for the courses of Introduction to Silviculture (in cooperation) and Forest project and Cooperative Forestry which I taught and still teach for many semesters (Introduction to Silviculture). I also have the responsibility of the elective course City Forestry. Moreover I have a rich research experience through the planning, organisation and completion of five research programs, while I still retain strong ties with the Institute for Forestry Research in Thessaloniki through various research programs. Being a member of the Research Committee of TEI Larissa I 2
3 C. Research experience am responsible since 1990 of the Inter-University Cooperative and Exchange Program ERASMUS (today SOKRATES), to which 46 Greek and 36 foreign students have participated. With Erasmus scholarships I have visited the relative Departments of Silviculture in Germany, Denmark, France, Slovenia and Finland in order to exchange research and teaching experiences as well as to establish closer cooperation. From 1996 to 1999 I participated as a member of the Greek delegation to actions E3 and E4 of the EU program COST. During the entire duration of my employment at the Department of Forestry in Karditsa I have established close cooperation with local authorities and stakeholders and particularly with the City of Karditsa and the Development Agency of Karditsa. I act as their scientific expert and councillor on issues regarding forests, green works and the development of mountainous areas. Under my involvement in the latter, two Life research programs have been cocnducted. During the Second Framework Support Program of the EU I was responsible for the organization and administration of the project ΕΠΕΑΕΚ 3.1.a Improvement of the Curriculum of the Departments of Silviculture of TEI Larisas and Lamias with a total budget of for the period During the last five years I work together with the Department of Biology of the University of Athens in research projects in the frame of the Life (Lake Plastiras region) and Natura 2000 (South and Central Greece) programs. a. E. Other activities Active member of the Greek Forestry Association and of the Greek Botanical Association. From February 1996 until October 2001 I was a member of the board of directors of CADASTRE S.A. with the responsibility of promoting, managing and supporting the work of preparing the forest maps for the Greek National Cadastre program. Greek National representative in the European Confederation of Agronomists Associations (CEDIA) from 1996 until today. F. Syndical activities In my 34 years professional experience I have a rich syndical experience mainly as: a member of the directing board of the Panhellenic Association of Foresters in Public service (ΠΕ Υ ) ( ) a member, for three consecutive terms in the directing board of the Geotechnical Chamber of Greece ( , and ).
