PREPARATION OF THE SOLUTION AND TIMBER, IMPREGNATING OPERATION Gradually pour FOBOS M-4 to water, mixing until completely dissolved. Impregnating bath is the recommended method consisting in complete immersion of individual wooden elements in 30% water solution (1 kg per 2.3 l of water). The bathing time should be controlled by watching consumption of the impregnating solution. Full protection of timber (against fire, house fungi, mildew and insects) will be achieved by introducing into the timber structure 200 g of FOBOS M-4 per 1 m 2 (0.57 l of impregnating solution/ m 2 of wood). The concentration of the working solution should be controlled during impregnation operations. In case of inaccessible elements it is allowed to spread or spray the agent. The operation should be repeated until applying the required amount according to the use quotas. Do not allow the surface to dry out between successive applications. The process of impregnation can be controlled using brown or green dye attached by the producer (not applicable to 1 kg buckets of FOBOS M-4). Other dyes than provided by the producer should not be used. Sunlight makes timber naturally lose its shade effected by the control dye. The degree of dyeing of the surface of impregnated timber does not correspond to protection quality. The purpose of timber dyeing during impregnation is to facilitate recognizing impregnated material. Salting out in the form of white bloom may appear on impregnated timber in case of using FOBOS M-4. It is a natural phenomenon and such blooms should not be removed if an appropriate level of protection against fire is to be preserved. The equipment used for impregnation works should be cleaned with water. Special safety measures should be observed when using this timber impregnation product. PREPARATION OF THE SOLUTION AND TIMBER, IMPREGNATING OPERATION. 5% water solution of FOBOS NW should be used to protect building timber. Impregnating bath is the best method of protective impregnation. It consists in complete immersion of elements to be impregnated for at least 30 minutes. Covering timber surface by spreading the agent with a brush or spraying is another method of protection. The time between applying successive layers should be at least 4 hours. 10% solution should be used in that method (1 litre of concentrate dissolved in 9 litres of water). The ultimate amount of the preparation required should be established by calculating the surface area of impregnated elements in m 2 and applying the agent use standards. Coated surfaces should be protected against rainfall for the next 48 hours. After that time the elements are fit for regular use. FOBOS NW is available in colourless and green variants. Sunlight may cause timber to lose its colour [acquired due to the control dyes]. The purpose of timber dyeing during impregnation is to facilitate monitoring the impregnation process. The degree of dyeing of the surface of impregnated timber does not correspond to protection quality. The equipment used for impregnation works should be cleaned with water. Special safety measures should be observed when using this timber impregnation product. Read the product label and the attached information leaflet before use. Lacquer should be applied twice or three times until at least 300 g/m 2 (285 ml/m 2 ) is applied. The required amount should always be calculated on the basis of the total timber area to be impregnated. Durability of protection with FOBOS Z-LAK fireprotection lacquer in outdoor conditions amounts to 5 years. The technical condition of the coating should be inspected every 12 months and repaired if any damage is discovered. Surfaces coated with other lacquers or impregnating agents may change effectiveness of fire protection. The best effect is achieved when applying the lacquer to raw timber. PREPARATION OF THE SOLUTION AND IMPREGNATING OPERATION FOBOS Z-LAK is a ready-to-use product. It needs no dilution. The content of a container should be thoroughly stirred before use. The surface to be protected should be cleaned, degreased and dedusted. Any surface defects should be repaired with wood filler. FOBOS Z-LAK fire-protection lacquer should be applied on a surface of raw timber of relative humidity under 20%, by spraying, with brush or roller. The lacquer shall be applied in air and background surface above 10 C. At least 300 g/m 2 should be applied in order to achieve full protection against fire depending on the conditions by two or three applications. The final coating thickness shall be at least 70 µm. The time gap between successive applications shall depend on ambient temperature and humidity. In ca 20 C temperature the second layer of lacquer may by applied after 5-6 hours, and the third after complete drying out of the first two. FOBOS Z-LAK after drying forms a semi-mat coating in manufacturer s colours. Immediately after completion of painting works the equipment should be cleaned under a strong jet of water.

Durability of protection with FOBOS STRZECHA impregnating agent amounts to 5 years. The condition of the coating should be inspected every 3 years and any defects repaired to maintain full fire protection. The process of impregnation of the entire roof surface should be repeated after 5 years. If an old surface is to be impregnated with FOBOS STRZECHA it has to be cleaned of any foreign matter e.g. moss, lichen, dust using abrasive materials or highpressure washer. PREPARATION OF THE SOLUTION AND IMPREGNATING OPERATION. FOBOS STRZECHA should be used as 50% water solution. Use the proportions of 1 litre of the agent and 1 litre of water to prepare the proper solution. Stir the mixture thoroughly. Use tap water for the mix in order to avoid microbiological contamination of the solution. Each time prepare the amount of solution which will be used up during one day. The process of application is best effected by double spraying under the working pressure of bar. Make sure that the second layer is applied after the first has dried out in dry weather it is about 6 hours at 22 C. With that method the impregnating agent will be forced into the roofing structure to the depth of ca 4 cm, at the same time a thin protective layer forms on the surface. Do not use the product at temperatures below +10 C. FOBOS STRZECHA acquires full resistance to outside conditions after 48 hours. That period is needed for complete drying and hardening of the coating on the reed. Impregnation operations should be carried out in dry weather. FOBOS STRZECHA shall not be combined with other impregnating agents or lacquers.

Approximate output of 1 kg of SILIGNIT RW: Cotton fabric up to 50 m 2 Wool fabric up to 40 m 2 Linen fabric up to 60 m 2 Polyamide fabric up to 200 m 2 Polyester fabric up to 60 m 2 Approximate output of 25 kg of SILIGNIT RW: Polyamide floor lining up to 80 m 2 Polypropylene floor lining up to 110 m 2 Durability of fire protection with SILIGNIT RW depends on the conditions of use of the protected products. It is recommended to repeat the impregnation process after 1 year in case of extensive use of the fabric (dedusting, rolling up, wiping). The process of impregnation should be renewed after every prolonged contact with water (wetting, washing) or dry cleaning. PREPARATION OF THE SOLUTION AND IMPREGNATING OPERATION Impregnation of fabrics should be performed with the use of 10% water solution of SILIGNIT RW. Dissolve 1 kg of the preparation in 9 litres of water, adding the agent gradually and mixing thoroughly until obtaining a clear solution. The process of dissolving can be speeded up by increasing temperature of the solution. The solution should be prepared a few hours before use. The best way to impregnate is to immerse a rolled out fabric in a bath of 10% SILIGNIT RW for a few minutes, until fully soaked. After taking the fabric out of the solution it should be delicately wringed, to remove excess solution, and then dried. Best dry in ambient temperature, not higher than 50 C. Impregnation of floor linings should be performed by spraying until fully wetted, using 25% solution (1 kg of SILIGNIT RW in 3 litres of water). The operation should be repeated several times, until applying the required amount of SILIGNIT RW, according to the normal use quotas. The time between subsequent applications should enable the solution to be well absorbed. Excess of SILIGNIT RW may appear in the form of white bloom, easily removed by wiping with a moist cloth or sponge.
