WaterTrac TM intelligent water metering for units and apartments
WaterTracTM Unit and apartment owners now have an affordable means to reduce water consumption with a more equitable water cost. WaterTrac is an innovative Australian integration of water meters, wireless communications and predictive database systems. WaterTrac allows for individual apartments and units to be billed for the water they use. WaterTrac is an intelligent water metering technology different from any other water reading system: water meter readings taken every minutes secure system - no requirement for meter readers to enter buildings ed water reports to building managers of possible water leakage areas and high water use automatic delivery of meter readings for water billing purposes suitable for retrofit in most buildings
Receiving a water advice summary can be a source of aggravation for unit and apartment owners. It is impossible for most to use the amount of water that they are billed for. Our experience shows this is the case for 60% of unit/apartments monitored with WaterTrac. WaterTrac is an intelligent wireless water metering solution that is flexible and robust... and very smart. Almost every unit owner pays more for their water because of excess consumption of a few, and the problem gets worse if any water leaks inside the property boundary remain undetected. Common explanations given for overcharging for water by authorities include : charges are estimations of water consumption because the water authority cannot gain access to physically read the water meters Chart 1: In a block of 79 apartments, 2 apartments use so much water that they qualify as Residential High Water Users according to the Queensland Water Commission. They also unfairly increase the average cost of water for fellow unit owners by about 10%. inaccurate estimated readings were introduced into billing systems years ago which have carried forward and never been corrected bills are calculated according to size of lot entitlement not water use Chart 2: In this instance, one unit manages to consume over 16,000 L one day and nearly 12,000 L on another day. Target water consumption is 200 L per person per day. All unit owners in the building are required to pay for the excess water use of others without choice.
WaterTrac TM What drives water savings? Some unit owners and tenants will use water carelessly as long as they do not pay directly for its cost. An intelligent water system can be installed so that unit owners will be billed only for the water that they use. Owners may also be able an pass on water billing costs to tenants where WaterTrac integrated water sub-metering is in place. Rewards There is scope for at least two types of incentives for unit owners: 1. By paying only for the water that they use, prudent users will see all water savings reflected in dollar savings on their own water bills. 2. Water utilities who implement tiered rates structures in the future can pass on water saving incentives to unit and apartment owners who have their own water meter infrastructure in place which measures water demand and water consumption. Better Information Access to true water consumption data and accurate records can be invaluable information. WaterTrac opens up many possibilities for unit and apartment owners: high resolution measurement of water consumption and demand earlier detection of concealed leaks regular feedback to building managers for general water use performance and to allow them to share relevant data with unit and apartment owners accurate water consumption and demand information to assist with negotiated water supply charges and incorrect billing charges. The monetary investment made today in a state of the art intelligent water meter system, will allow unit owners to be able to reap the substantial financial rewards of saved water costs down the line.
intelligent water use reporting Powerful predictive data analytics monitor water consumption and demand OzGreen Energy's advanced analytics and comprehensive computing resources monitor water use on every meter that is connected to the WaterTrac system reading each meter up to 100 times each day. The unprecedented resolution of information is breaking new ground in understanding how, why and when water is used. By installing the WaterTrac system unit and apartment owners stay at the leading edge of technology in the push for lower water costs, more equitable cost distribution, and water sustainability. WaterTrac helps building owners to identify water-related problems which if left unattended can quickly lead to increased water costs, property damage, and increased water bills.
The OzGreen Energy advantage OzGreen Energy's WaterTrac technology helps unit owners to help themselves. Depending on the current layout of installed meters and billing system, each site will require a customised solution. Typically, the cost per unit is very favourable, and in most cases water meters can be installed for less than what a water utility would charge. The OzGreen Energy team is on your side. We assist unit owners and Body Corporate managers to navigate the maze of council and state government regulations which often act to prevent sub-metering retrofit projects. When it comes to water sub-metering, there is no other technology firm that is more experienced than OzGreen Energy in overcoming all the regulatory obstacles. Every design and installation is compliant with building codes and the best practices in hydraulic engineering. We retain experienced hydraulic, structural, mechanical, communication and design engineers. Further support is provided by regulatory experts on hand to assist with advice on drafting of any Body Corporate by-law amendments that may be required. Our trained plumbing and communications technicians know how to install intelligent water meters in any environment. For water billing administration we can introduce you to qualified and experienced third party billing organisations who specialise in utility billing and payment collection. OzGreen Energy remains by your side for the lifetime of the WaterTrac installation. At all times we monitor and maintain the information systems, the installation and equipment. Our real strength is the way we handle the billions of bytes of data streamed wirelessly from water meters every day. We compute this massive amount of data using sophisticated algorithms to transform it into meaningful information that unit and apartment owners can use to save money on their water bills. We also keep all records securely stored in our Tier 3 data centre for a minimum of 5 years as part of our client services.
How to begin the process for water sub-metering and fairer water billing for your building Phase 1 - A preliminary evaluation of the site will be undertaken by OzGreen Energy to determine the feasibility of installing intelligent sub-meters and implementing the WaterTrac intelligent wireless network technology on the site. A report will be provided that details the issues, if any, that need to be overcome or the challenges that may make the project non-viable. A preliminary walk-though assessment will be made of the existing building structures and the hydraulic layout. A check will be made for wireless signal integrity on the site and to see if installation can comply with current building codes and legislation. The report will be tabled in a Body Corporate-friendly format that clearly and succinctly presents the options available to achieve fair water billing. Phase 2 - Upon the approval of the Body Corporate, a complete quote including engineering and regulatory compliance documentation will be prepared for the Body Corporate so that the cost of the undertaking can be understood. The quote will enable all unit owners to easily understand the costs/benefit of intelligent water sub-metering. Phase 3 - Following acceptance of the quote the works will commence. On-site visits will be required by OzGreen Energy's hydraulic and communications engineers draw up installation plans and calculate the precise equipment and installation requirements. Then formal building applications will be lodged by OzGreen Energy s hydraulics Engineers with the authorities. Phase 4 - Following approval to commence works OzGreen Energy will arrange for the body corporate to sub-contract the installation of the WaterTrac system as per specification and to commission it in the shortest possible time. Phase 5 - Over the lifetime of the system, OzGreen Energy will maintain and operate the WaterTrac system. Every time data is received alerts will be sent by to the building manager if any leaks or meter tampering is detected. Periodically general operating reports will be supplied to the building manger to be confidentially divulged to appropriate parties and billing services providers will receive the meter readings for each billing cycle.
