4 Make change happen wherever you are. Education for children Conserve My Planet Conserve My Planet is aimed at school children and sets to educate them about energy conservation. It teaches how to minimize energy use and empowers children to make the changes necessary to be energy-smart in schools and at home. The programme includes hands-on practical projects, rigorous training, and fun-based learning. Children are educated as change agents by Schneider Electric-trained teachers and are encouraged to teach their peers, family members, and neighborous. Through participating in the programme children develop a responsible attitude toward the environment and learn that they can have an impact on a global issue. 5 Education for university students Solar Decathlon Solar Decathlon is the largest global university competition focused on energy management in homes. It brings together university teams who design, build, and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and attractive. These homes are presented together in a Solar Village and assessed in 10 categories. The winner of the competition is the team that best blends affordability, consumer appeal, and design excellence with optimal energy production and maximum efficiency. As a sustaining sponsor of the competition, Schneider Electric donates products and engineering services including the microgrid which enables a safe and reliable electrical connection between the Solar Village and the utility service for the duration of the event. Go Green in the City Go Green in the City is an international challenge for business and engineering students around the world to find clever solutions for energy management with the support of a Schneider Electric mentor. It brings together teams that consist of two members and include at least one woman. The challenge is designed as a two-stage selection process, with the first stage selecting 100 teams and the second stage shortlisting 25 teams for the final. Members of the shortlisted teams are interviewed for an internship programme or job opportunities at Schneider Electric. The winners of the challenge are guaranteed a job and are sent to travel around the world to meet other student leaders and Schneider Electric executives. Green Ambassadors Green Ambassadors is a programme aimed at students who have participated in contests organized or sponsored by Schneider Electric. It encourages them to become Green Ambassadors and to speak at trade fairs, press conferences, and company events about the competition in which they participated. Students are given the opportunity to take an all-expenses-paid trip around the world to speak about their experiences in Schneider Eectric-sponsored contests. They also gain global recognition for their achievements and the possibility of obtaining job offers. Education for professionals Energy University Energy University TM is a free, Web-based learning programme focused on improving energy efficiency and conservation. It delivers timely, unbiased information from energy experts across multiple industries. In addition, Energy University courses qualify for professional education credits from numerous associations. To accommodate busy schedules, the self-paced, on-demand courses are designed in short modules that take less than one hour to complete. Current topics include energy consumption and measurement, efficiency applications, and ROI calculations.
