Solving climate security problems: Study tour, group work Date: February 02, 2017 Location: City of Tat; REC Conference Center, plenary room Address: Tat; REC, Szentendre, Hungary Time 07:45 Departure time from the hotel to the city of Tat 07:45 13:45 Study tour to the city of Tat The city of Tat in Hungary is one of the sites contributing to the National Adaptation Geographical Information System (NAGiS). The city has suffered for decades from river and pluvial flooding. In order to address these challenges, scientists developed a mathematical model of local urban floods. The model considers different climate scenarios and the impacts of protection measures. The conclusions were taken into consideration in the construction of flood protection measures following the outcomes of the modeling process. Training participants will see a short presentation on the model itself and on how climate change impacts are taken into consideration. This will be followed by a visit to the construction site. Participants will have a chance to meet with the city authorities and discuss the most important climate security governance topics. What is the future of cooperation in the area of climate security in the target regions? What should be the follow-up to the training and the project?
