1 YOUTH LAB FOR ENVIRONMENT EVROTAS, GREECE FEBRUARY 2015 DATES Arrival : 15/02/ 2015 Departure : 21/02/2015 Venue of arrival / departure : Athens - Greece Venue of the project : Evrotas - Greece Number of participants : 39 participants Age of participants : young adults, years old All participants should consider that the arrival date is 15th of February in Athens, where they will be transported at the same day in Evrotas area for free, and the departure date is 21st of February from Athens, neither earlier nor later than these dates. Partner Countries Country Organisation No of Participants Participants with Fewer Opportunities* (out of number of Participants) Group Leaders/ Trainers/ Facilitators (out of total number of Participants) Travel Grand Per Participant (In Euro) Germany Jugend UND ,00 Kulturproject E.V. Estonia Continuous ,00 Action Poland Gminny Osrodek ,00 Kultury Olesnica Greece KEAN Cell of Alternative Youth Activities ,00 Spain KEAN ,00 Actividades Alternativas Turkey Hacettepe ,00 Universitesi Italy GreenRope ,00 *For some of the participating countries, the travel expenses will be greater than the grand allocated. This is expected to deter participants with fewer opportunities (due to economic obstacles) to participate. In order to encourage participation of youth from challenged environments, the extra
2 fund is necessary in order to cover the full amount of their travel expenses (selected countries: Germany, Estonia, Poland, Greece, Italy) Summary of the project Youth Lab for Environment It is noted that especially among the youth, awareness on specific environmental challenges and also opportunities is not as wide as it should be. Especially so for youth with fewer opportunities, the environment is low on the agenda of vital actions. The project aims to bring together youth from different and quite diverse parts of Europe in order to discuss environmental challenges and how they can have an impact on them. Central Europe, Baltic and Mediterranean participants will discuss how they understand environmental challenges in their own regions, what actions can be undertaken and what is their role as active citizens. Furthermore, they will familiarize with European and global policy making and international environmental protection organisations and their work. Last but definitely not least, the participants will acquire knowledge on green economy, green careers and green education. Through this project it is expected to increase the level of youth involvement in environmental actions in the respective regions where the activities will be held, and to raise awareness on sustainable choices for lifestyle and career options. Last but no least, this project's main objective is to raise youth awareness on environmental issues such as climate change, protection of biodiversity and sustainability of resources. The project will be implemented in the Evrotas due to the fact that the river delta of this specific area is one of the most important weatled in Greece, where there are lots of migratories birds, that most of them are endangered species. In recent years, the river has suffered from the water pollution and the throwing garbage in its banks, because of the bad habits of the mass tourism and the lack of environmental awareness on this sensible area. Aims &Objectives Learn about sustainable growth and environment Discover new cultures, habits, lifestyles and healthy behaviours towards sensible areas Exchange their knowledge and practices by using different resources in sensible areas Deepen the understanding of environmental issues Create a Guide of necessary environmental knowledge Make a positive long-term impact Spread the word in participating countries and communities Social and personal development via sharing and cultivating skills, attitudes and knowledge Increase their knowledge on environmental challenges and policy making on the topic Raise awareness on their role as active citizens Engage in local initiatives for environment protection Create opportunities for alternative career choices through their introduction to green economy and circular economy Participants preparation before the Training Course Prepare a three (3) minute presentation of your organisation and probably of relevant actions that you have implemented or in which you have participated
3 Get ready to represent your country to the local community of the area during the cultural night which is going to take place in a central spot of Evrotas area and will be attended not only by the participants, but also by inhabitants. -To contribute to this event and present your culture you can get some cultural drinks and foods! Learning Outcomes Through this project, all the participants will be asked to express their interest to participate by submitting their CV in Europass format. Upon completion of the mobility, all participants will be given a Youthpass Certificate. Evrotas area short description: Transportation The name Evrotas means good flow and its length reaches 82 km.
