16 Conservation of Biodiversity (case: awards & grants) Biodiversity Award In order to promote biodiversity conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, two awards have been inaugurated. They are a domestic prize, the Japan Awards for Biodiversity, and an international one, the MIDORI Prize for Biodiversity. And they honor excellent projects in alternate years. Assisting Environmental Activities Since its establishment, the Aeon Environmental Foundation has awarded grants for activities related to sustainable use and the preservation of biodiversity in Japan and overseas. In fiscal 2016, million yen was awarded to 99 organizations.
