9 Bag Monster A suit of 500 Plastic Bags Education on the danger of Marine debris Discourages use of plastic bags This year project green teens has a total of 11 recorded bag monster appearances. Up from 9 last year.
10 Trash Bash 3.0 Items collected on the Wise Point clean-up used to create a sculpture Used to educate the guest at the aquarium on the effect of marine debris.

12 Clean-up Basics This year Project Green Teens was involved in 7 cleanups. Item count data was recorded for all clean-ups with the exception of Amhurst Park with a partial sheet.

18 Process Trash from the trash dumpster was held for 2 days. Trash was sorted on a tarp into separate buckets. Buckets were weighed and recorded Data was compared with 2011 pre-recycling data.

27 Dumpster Dive Conclusions 1. Both the amount of percentage reduction and item count suggest improvement in recycling, however the item count suggest it to a lesser degree. Aluminum can recycling does not appear to change.

37 Recommendations 1. Have a recycling bin at every trash can. 2. Provide a place to accept cardboard and recyclables larger than cans and bottles (recycling container with lids?) 3. Have posters to encourage recycling and reusable water bottles, while discourage plastic bags. Explain social, economic, and environmental cost of all three. 4. Provide an incentive for events at Mt Trashmore to be Green Certified Events 5. Ban foamed plastic items from special events. Discussion
