3 Chicken litter as fuel After years of intensive research & development, BINDER Energietechnik succeeded in developing a biomass boiler for the combustion of chicken litter with the lowest emission levels. This results in ideal conditions for an economical and ecological operation of a heating system - with chicken litter as fuel. The characteristics of chicken litter In the table below are the ingredients of chicken litter and wood chip compared. The diffi culty in the chicken litter combustion is the low calorifi c value of the fuel, since there is a low amount of combustable substances contained. Standard-biomass boilers also reach their limits due to the high ash content. 4 The breeding and keeping of chickens is very sensible. The temperature control of the stables is very important for a good breeding of young chicken. First, the temperature of the stable must be constantly high with approx. body temperature of the young chicken, because they don t have protective feathers. Otherwise they would cool down very quickly. This temperature should be kept about one week. After one week the temperature niveau in the stables must decrease, due to the the mass of chicken- the process turns from a endothermal into a exothermal heat production of the chicken. Afterwards the temperatures in the stable should be constantly high. Chimney 6. 2-row hydraulic walking fl oor With an operation time of about full-load-hours per year of a BINDER chicken litter boiler with a power output of 800kW about 2,4GWh of thermal energy is neccesary. An ordinary chicken produces about 25kg chicken litter per year with an calorifi c value of about 2,4 kwh/kg. To cover the total fuel amount of 1.000t of chicken litter, about chickens are necessary. Flue gas collector (Chimney) Combustion chamber - Moving Grate Combustion Unit SRF The combustion chamber for combustion of chicken litter differs only in detail from standard combustion chamber. It is a combustion unit with a hydraulically or electro-mechanically operated grate, for combustion of wet materials with high ash content. 7 Vario heat exchanger VWT A optimization of the part-load performance of biomass plants - specially for the combustion of chicken litter - requires the use of a optimated combustion technology paired with a variable heat exchanger. BINDER serves with the Vario heat exchanger (VWT) a new concept, which was developed to enable "extreme" part load operation. With the VWT a modulation down to 10% of the boiler output is possible. This system is combinable with every BINDER combustion chamber from the size (starting from 200 kw). Through the use of proven BINDER combustion technology, reliable technology is combined with a modern heat exchanger design that allows minimum part-load ranges. Capacity and Combustion Control CVP Special power control that continuously calculates the current power demand and controls the material insertion and continuously supplies the air amount. Reacts dynamically to changes in the combustion process due to adaption of secondary air inlet via lambda control Variable air volumes are automatically compensated by the integrated negative pressure control Speed-controlled fans minimise electric power consumption Provides an optimal effi ciency over the entire power range of the boiler. 3D Graphics Package The innovative BINDER 3D visualization is directly derived from the plan of installation and refl ects your personal system. Individually designed parameter windows and the integrated data logging (if desired with QM-Holzheizwerke interface), as well as the possibility to integrate the BINDER combustion chamber camera, complete the package.
