2 Water Pollution in Philippines Due to a lack of sufficient and effective sewage treatment infrastructure, only about 10% of the sewage in the Philippines is properly treated. Waste can spread disease-causing organisms and can cause waterborne diseases, such as gastroenteritis, diarrhea, typhoid, cholera, dysentery, and hepatitis. According to Borgen Magazine, The Philippines is developing a nation that has experienced a rapid rise in urbanization and industrialization as its population has grown rapidly. Unfortunately, this rapid development has come at a price of increased water pollution, with 47% of all surveyed water bodies in the country having good water quality, 40% having only fair water quality, and 13% having poor water quality. Around 50 of the 421 rivers in the Philippines are now considered to be biologically dead, supplying sufficient oxygen for only the most hardy species to survive there. 32 percent of the Philippines land mass is used for agriculture.

4 Pollution in Ganges River The main causes of water pollution in the Ganga river are the increase in the population density, various human activities, like bathing,washing clothes,bathing of animals and dumping of various harmful industrial waste into the river. Almost one billion litres of raw, untreated sewage are dumped in the river on a daily basis. The amount has more than doubled in the last 20 years and experts predict another 100% increase in the following 20 years. According to Hindustan Times, Not a single drop of river Ganga has been cleaned so far, the National Green Tribunal on Monday observed, rapping the government agencies for only wasting public money in the name of the cleaning project.

6 Pollution of the Yangtze River The river receives more waste than any other in China, from factories, heavy metal industries, fertilizers, pesticides and weed killing solutions. The Greenpeace study found hazardous chemicals in nearly every sample of carp and catfish. These man-made chemicals have been proven to be hazardous to living organisms. They can act as an endocrine disruptor and accumulate in the body for long periods of time, the report states. According to the report that shutting down the unqualified factories is the key to solve the water pollution problem. The Chinese government announced in December 2001 that it would spend 40 billion yuan ($4.8 billion) by 2010 on projects to clean up the Three Gorges and upstream stretches of the river. The report by the Yangtze River Water Resources Authority also concludes that stretches of the 6212 kilometre-long river are too polluted for human use.

8 Air pollution in China and India Air pollution reduces life expectancy in the world's two most populated countries by around two years. Outdoor air pollution killed 3,283 people in India in 2015, compared to 3,233 in China. Daily pollution deaths in India rose from 2,100 in 1990 to 2,502 in 2000, and then to 2,865 in 2010, before jumping up dramatically over the last five years. China made strict emission standards for thermal power plants in 2011, and organize an action plan in 2013, which led to the reduction in pollution levels, eventually stopping the increase in air pollution deaths. Scientists have concluded that growing up in a city with polluted air is about as harmful to a person's health as growing up with a parent who smokes.
