1 U.S. Wind Industry Third Quarter Market Report October 2011 The U.S. wind industry installed 1,204 MW during the third quarter of 2011, bringing total installations in 2011 to 3,360 MW. The U.S. wind industry now totals 43,461 MW through the end of September There are over 8,400 MW currently under construction involving over 90 separate projects spanning 29 states.

2 U.S. Annual and Cumulative Wind Power 50,000 45,000 Annual Installations Cumulative Installations 40,000 35,000 30,000 25,000 20,000 There have been 3,360 MW of wind projects installed in the U.S. through the third quarter of 2011, up 74% from the first three quarters of The third quarter saw the commissioning of 1,204 MW, a 79% increase from the 671 MW installed during the third quarter of These projects were installed in 13 states including Colorado, with over 500 MW installed, and Ohio, which passed the 100 MW of total wind capacity threshold. Throughout 2011, over 45 projects have been brought online in 25 different states. The total U.S. installed wind capacity now stands at 43,461 MW. 15,000 10,000 5, YTD

6 U.S. Wind Power under Construction 10,000 9,000 8,000 7,000 The U.S. wind industry is experiencing its busiest quarter since 2008 and its third most active quarter ever, with over 8,482 MW under construction. Over 90 projects are currently under construction across 29 states, ranging from several 0.75 MW, single-turbine projects at Ohio schools to an 845 MW, 338 turbine project in Oregon.
