1 SV-ACFC Aluminum Conductor Composite Core (ACCC) SV-ACFC ACCC is a high and new technological product that is jointly developed by North China Electric Power Research Institute, Shandong University and Hebei Silicon Valley Chemicals Co., Ltd. This product is made of the internationally advanced CCF-3 carbon fiber that is independently produced by our company and the special thermal-resistant resin independently developed by the Silicon Valley Chemicals Research Institute, and takes the independently developed high performance drawing and extruding units as guarantee to hardware. With a production capacity of 100,000km ACCC, it is the only one completely home made ACCC with independent intellectual property rights in home, and its comprehensive performance index has reached to international advanced level. Main properties are as following: 1. The super high tensile strength of the carbon fiber composite core bar exceeds 2800MPa; 2. Conductivity reaches to 63% IACS; low sag inflexion, the conductor expansion coefficient above sag inflexion is lower than / ; 4. About 20% lighter than normal conductor of the same specification; 5. Double capacity transmission is realized by identical section SV-ACFC which saves 50% aluminum; 6. Unique patent anti-splitting design with super high line operation security;

2 Reform of Electric Transmission and Its Strategic Importance China s land resource is limited such that the selection of transmission corridor is restricted and the demand of increasing transmission power of unit corridor is increasingly urgent. The transmission capacity depends on heat stability of conductor of lines. By changing to high performance conductor, the transmission capacity can be remarkably promoted, of which the ACCC has technical advantages of light weight, high strength, low coefficient of conductor expansion, thermal resistant and anti-fatigue so it will become a new type of conductor with the most development potential. This technology has been listed into key promotion technology catalogue by the State Grid Corporation of China in kV Line Successfully Accessed to Grid and Operate On 12 Jan. 2009, the ACCC-300/50 that is made of carbon fiber and high performance carbon fiber composite core rod strand was accessed to grid at Beijing 500kV Wanshun III line and the operation is favorable with each index reaches to design requirement, and won the 2008 scientific and technological achievement special award of North China Grid Company. On 15 Feb. 2009, North China Grid Company Limited hosted Research of Independent Development of ACCC and Its Use in Promoting Transmitting Capacity of Grid project appraisal meeting with three academicians YAN Luguang, LI Liying and XU Gengguang were presented. On the meeting, it is unanimously considered: the product of this project reached to international advanced level and its technology is firstly produced in home; it has great and profound influence to electricity industry and is a significant technological revolution of our country s transmission corridor; the successful application of this product has epoch-making significance.

5 Hebei Silicon Valley Chemicals Co., Ltd. Silicon Valley SV-ACFC Aluminum Conductor Composite Core General Aluminum Conductor Composite Core (1) Light weight. Comparing with normal aluminum strand steel core, the weight of its core is only one fifth of that of steel core, which largely reduces weight of conductor. (2) Small thermal expansion coefficient. The thermal expansion coefficient of carbon fiber composite material is almost nil so the conductor is insensitive to temperature in the process of transmitting. (3) High conductivity. The load of ACCC is bore by the carbon fiber core so it can adopt soft aluminum as conductor to replace aluminum alloy, only by this item it can promote 3 percent transmission capacity. (4) It can realize doubled transmission capacity. At present, domestic transmission line can not realize high temperature transmission due to over large high temperature sag and the normal transmission temperature is below 80. Whereas, under the precondition of meeting the requirement of sag, the transmission temperature of ACCC can be increased to so as to double the transmission amount. (5) High snow and ice resistant capacity. The transmission temperature of ACCC is high and snow is hard to be deposited so it can significantly promote the snow and ice resistant capacity of conductor. (6) Land saving. By utilizing ACCC, it can increase tower distance and reduce transmission loop so as to promote the land using rate for wiring. (7) Strong anti-corrosion capacity. The carbon fiber composite core is resin matrix composite material which is strongly resistant to acid, alkali and air corrosion.
