2 RNGE OF PPLITION Range of application The standard differentiates between filling water (first filling of the whole system) and make-up water (necessary refill caused by water losses). The first filling of the system is performed by the system engineers with a suitable system. The modules elko-mat eder MWE, elko-mat eder R-MWE and elko-mat eder MVE are exclusively used for treating the makeup water in combination with an electronic monitoring of the ion capacity. The usage is exclusively possible with a make-up module (multicontrol MF resp. multicontrol M-N). 3 MWE MWE module water softening make-up water Depending on the system size and the total hardness of the filling resp. make-up water, the make-up water must be softened according to standard ÖNORM H to prevent stone building. For this purpose the module water softening make-up (MWE) can be combined with multicontrol make-up modules. Operating principle Make-up water passes the ion exchange resin (cation ), whereby the hardeners of the water, calcium and magnesium, are replaced by the harmless and water-soluble sodium. raw water SO ion resin SO ion ion resin resin NO NO SO a+ softened water + Na SO The make-up amount in the pressure maintenance system is monitored continuously and in case of exhausted capacity of the softening cartridge the operator is automatically requested to exchange the cartridge. 4 R-MWE R-MWE module water softening make-up water, regenerating Depending on the system size and the total hardness of the filling- resp. make-up water, the make-up water must be softened accordning to standard ÖNORM H to prevent stonebuilding. R-MWE 28 is a fully automatic water softening device with microprocessor control. The ionic resin is automatically regenerated, depending on the actual water consumption. Operating principle Make-up water is led via a so called central valve over the ion resin (cation ), whereby the hardeners of the water, calcium and magnesium, are replaced by the harmless and watersoluble sodium. raw water SO ion resin SO ion ion resin resin NO NO SO a+ softened water + Na SO fter depletion of the resin within the pressure vessel it is regenerated automatically. During regeneration no make-up water can pass the hard water barrier. The hard water barrier ensures that the elko-mat eder R-MWE 28 is utilisable with all make-up devices, even such from other manufacturers, or in systems with external make-upp devices.

6 MVE MVE module demineralisation make-up water In contrast to water softening, where hardness components in the water are changed, during demineralisation all minerals are removed from the filling resp. make-up water. For filling water demineralisation the module demineralisation make-up water (MVE) can be combined with multicontrol make-up modules. Operating principle Make-up water passes through a resign bed (cation and anion ), whereby the positive and negative ions of the water are bartered for hydrogen and hydroxide. This way pure water without impurities is generated.
