'06 3) LEED-EB trainings have been held twice each at UCSB and UCSC, and once each at UCB and UCI; LEED-EB sessions were also organized at the '05 and '06 sustainabilit conferences 4) Secured outside funding and hired a LEED EB intern for UCOP pilot project 5) Formed systemwide Sustainable Operations Working Group 6) Drafted policy guidelines to require each campus to complete one LEED-EB pilot project by July 2008, and to create a plan to certify all major campus buildings as resources allow I n The University will work closely with the US Green Building Council, Labs21, the US Department of Energy, the US Environmental Protection Agency, State government, and other organizations to facilitate the improvement of evaluation methodologies to better address University requirements. Additionally, the University will work with the US Green Building Council to develop a selfcertification tool for University use To present coordinated information, review and program development needs to USGBC and other entities involved in environmental sustainability efforts. To maximize resources available from outside sources to support UC s sustainability policies and practices 1) Coordinated with USGBC to offer the first LEED-EB trainings in the country at UCSB and UCB (free), providing input to USGBC staff on UC concerns and interest 2) UCOP, UCSB, UCB, and UCD submitted comments on final LEED EB draft 3) Held Energy Star plaque dedication and kick-off meeting for accessing federal resources in Attended by officials from EPA, DOE, LBNL 4) Signed Partnership Agreement with DOE to join ReBuild America program and access free technical and consulting advice. Secured funding for a graduate student intern 5) Secured participation from EPA and Alameda County Waste Management Authority to provide expert assistance i Strategic Sourcing efforts 6) Closely coordinating with the state's implementation of the Green Building Executive Order 7) UCSB and UCM are two of 13 pilot participants in USGBC's Portfolio Program to jointly developed procedures to certify an organization's entire portfolio of buildings quickly and cost effectively. As with renewable energy projects, the University will develop funding sources and establish a program for financing retrofit projects. The initial goal for energy efficiency retrofit projects will be to reduce systemwide growthadjusted energy consumption by 10 percent or more by 2014 from the 2000 base consumption level. The University will strive to achieve even greater savings as additional potential is identified and funding becomes available. In particular, campuses will evaluate transportation services, including fleet vehicles, Transportation Demand Management (TDM) programs, public transit, and on-campus housing goals. f The University will develop a variety of funding sources and financing alternatives for energy efficiency, renewable energy, and clean energy projects that will enable campuses to be flexible in addressing their energy needs. Used California Climate Action Registry reporting year and fuel types. III b Campuses will be encouraged to collect data on Average Vehicle Ridership (AVR) of commuters. AVR is defined as the number of trips to campus divided by the number of automobiles used for those trips (AVR = trips/# automobiles). Campuses may use this data to set goals for reduction of fuel consumption. AVR data may also be used in conjunction with transportation mode split data to develop maps of distance zones surrounding the campus, and to model each zone s proportionate share of various commuting modes (e.g., percentage of bicycle or single-occupancy vehicle trips within 0-2 miles from the central campus core). 1) Collect AVR data for commuters at each campus. 1) AVR data collection methods discussed with Transportation and Parking Managers from all campuses at their annual meeting; UCLA, Riverside, and Irvine currently collect AVR for reporting to SCAQMD; Davis has hired a PhD student to prepare the campus AVR; 2006 UC/CSU/CCC Campus Sustainability Conference included a session on AVR methods; In process of evaluating a systemwide approach.
