1 Sotrad Water New Solar Pump&Drink Drinking water and agriculture water supply for communities Sotrad Water designed solar water solutions that will supply drinking water to the communities and provide a water solution for small-scale irrigation. Agriculture is a key component of rural development it is important to have healthy farmers working in irrigated fields without having to waste time and energy to manually pump the water. The Sotrad Water solar kits are durable solutions for the communities made of 3 main components: Sotrad Water solar pumping with 1440 W of installed power Water treatment and elevated storage for the population Water storage of 50 m 3 for agriculture. The priority of the pumped water goes for treatment while the excess of water will be send for agriculture. Theses solutions are designed to be installed in existing borehole/well (up to 40 m deep), or other kind of surface water. The Solar Stations will be delivered in numbered boxes for secured installation on site.

2 Technical description Sotrad Water is a Belgian company specialized in designing and manufacturing innovative solutions to increase the water access of the rural populations and increasing agricultural incomes of these populations. Sotrad Water solutions are robust and sustainable, they create a lot of added values for the communities. 1. Solar water pumping The raw water is pumped in the well using a state of the art DC brushless stainless steel pump. In the majority of the projects the pumps are installed in replacement of manual pumps. The 1000 W pump is powered by a solar panel installation of 6 modules of 240 W each build on a stand-alone structure. The structure will be installed close to the pump, with a proper grounding solution and electrical protection in the combiner box. 3 2. Drinking water treatment Solar pump controller design The water arrives under pressure, from the submersible pump to the water treatment station. The treatment steps are the following: Prefiltration at 25 microns to remove particles from the water Chlorination using a state of the art proportional dosing solution able to treat up to l/h Water meter After this treatment the water is clarified and properly disinfected for a safe human consumption. The station is protected and installed in the right facility for a long lifetime. 3. Drinking water storage After treatment the water is sent to a 4,000 liters tank installed on a 2 m high long lasting metallic structure. This tank is the storage for the population needs. The system is designed to keep this tank full as much as possible making the drinking water the top priority for each site.

4 4. Drinking water distribution Gravity distribution is organized from the drinking water elevated tank with a standpipe of 4 self-closing taps. The distribution point is equipped with a solar pole for lighting after sunset.

5 5. Agriculture water When the drinking water tank is full, the solar pumped water is sent to a 50 m3 pillow tank to serve as agriculture water. This water will increase the production yields and security in many ways Water for livestock Water for irrigation Increasing production of fruits and vegetable Fire safety The pillow tank is the perfect option for that, it could be installed directly on the ground, without heavy investments, and will provide water to the irrigated fields.
