Successful: more than visitors per year» A small path with panels showing typical plants and animals of peat bogs» A path of 9 km, with information needed by the visitor 15
16 Nature paths and recreational constructions in the Finnish Lapland About 1/3 of the land area of Lapland is part of Natura 2000 sites Very sparsely populated rural areas with high unemployment Combining Cohesion Policy and LIFE support helps the five largest protected areas in central Lapland. Small tourism entrepreneurs are supported. The ERDF cofinanced several hiking trails with duckboards, bird watch towers, information signs, camp fire places and sleeping shelters. 16
