The city ecosystem service value in Wenjiang District Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Science Prof. Dr. Xiushan Li
Outline 1. Recognition of city ecosystem service 2. Assessing city ecosystem service value. Capture the value of city ecosystem
1.Study site
Study site
Study site
Study site Wenjiang district located at the middle of Sichuan Province, Western of Chengdu city. The area is 277 km 2. In 2014,there are 46,800 inhabitants,gdp/ person is 78,592 Yuan(1euro=7Yuan), Urbanization rate is 62.8%. Elevation: m,subtropical climate, rainfall:740mm. There are 100 nursery stock and flower species, 2014 planting area is 1,00ha. Till 2014,the forests cover canopy higher than 50%(including nursery stock).it is called a natural oxygen bar, and green homes in city.
2. Ecosystem type (1)City ecosystem Green path
()Forests Ecosystem Alee-tree Nursery garden
(2)Agriculture Ecosystem Agricultural ecosystem Rice Vegetable
(4)Water Ecosystem River Pool
.Ecosystem Service City ecosystem has provision service: provide agriculture and garden products, pure water; Regulation service: water conservation, water and soil maintenance, carbon sequestration and Oxygon release, biodiversity maintenance, micro climate regulation(decrease heat island effect, increasing humidity), purification of water and air, noise mitigation. Cultural service: recreation, entertainment, education, healthy.
.1 Provision Allee tree, Nursery stock Flower
Dishgarden
.2 Regulation service (1)Biodiversity Maintenaance Rich plants in wetland
Biodiversity maintenance
Biodiversity maintenance
(2) Pollination service
() Water purification
4.Assessment of valuation (1) Discussion with stakeholder, find main issue Water pollution, pure air, beautiful garden, healthy, Land use Planning (2) Data collection Wenjiang district Statistical Year book and annuals published, combined the statistics from Bureau of parks and woods, Agricultural Bureau, Meteorological Bureau, Water Resource Bureau, Environmental Bureau. Own Questionnaire, field investigation.
() Methodology Market price: Market price of products and services, allee tree, dishgarden, nursery stock, flower, livestock, agricultural products. Replace cost method: water purification replaced by the cost of sewage treatment, nutrients production, storage or sedimentation by market price of fertilizers. Benefit transfer: research results of the same type of ecosystem services elsewhere, such as carbon storage and nutrients. Contingent valuation: non-market value, willingness to pay-wtp, Biodiversity
(4) Data analysis. Service type Goods and service Monetary method provision Raw material: wood, medicinal plants, Food: husbandry products, honey, vegetable, Energy: fuel, water energy Other: flower, nursery stock Water conservation: regulation of water Water purification Market price U 调 = 库 A(P-E-C) U 水质 =10KA(P-E-C) Regulation Cultural Soil maintenance Soil nutrition Carbon sequestration Oxygen production Air purification: product negative oxygen ion Absorb air pollutants Biodiversity maintenance aesthetic, inspiration, religious, education, Tourism Restoration cost: 50Yuan/ m Fertilizer Market price: Carbon exchange Vf dsrate:20.4$/t, p1 i p2i pi i 1 afforestation cost, on average 199,61Yuan/t Industry Oxygen production and afforestation cost on average, 84.85Yuan/t U 负离子 = AHK 负离子 (Q 负离子 -600)/L; U 二氧化硫 =K 二氧化硫 Q 二氧化硫 A U 滞尘 =K 滞尘 Q 滞尘 A CVM TCM, CVM, Physical amount n
5. Result (1) Direct economic value In 2014 the direct economic value of city ecosystem in wenjiang district is : 47 Mio. Yuan Nursery storage value: 20 Billion Yuan
(2) Soil conservation value The value of soil conservation is calculated by the loss of economic value of soil erosion, soil fertilizer loss, and sediment deposit in the condition of no forests. In Wenjiang district the total value of soil conservation of mainly forests ecosystem is: 11.4Mio.Yuan.
() Water conservation Value The costs of reservoir construction is 0.67Yuan/m,the rainfall in 210 is mm/a,the area of ecosystem is hm 2,water area is hm 2, the total value of water conservation: ( hm hm 2 ) mm/a 0.67Yuan/m = Mio Yuan/year
(4) The value of air purification V i,1 k i Q i S i absorb SO2 -sulfur dioxide nitrogen oxide- NO x,retention of dust, total value: Mio.Yuan
Value of decreasing noise The Value of decreasing noise is 15% of afforestation costs. The cost on average is Yuan/m, stock volume of mature forest is 80 m /ha, then the value of decreasing noise is: Yuan/m 15 % 80 m /ha ha=20.16 Mio.Yuan
Total value of city ecosystem In 201 the partial value of ecosystem service in Wenjiang district is 687Mio.Yuan/year Nursery storck storage value 20 Billion Yuan Table value of ecosystem in Wenjiang, Unit:Yuan service Produ cts Soil conserv ation Water conserv ation Purifi cation of air Noise decreas ing Total Value/ Mio
6.Capture Value of ecosystem (1) Mainstreaming the ecosystem value into city planning (2) To formulate eco-capital debt table ()Based on valuation, to formulate the examination methods of achievements for government
