Initial Meeting with local Technical College Manufacturing Luncheon o Interested Employers o Technical College Representatives o State / Local Apprentice Organizations 1 st Sector Partnership Created
8 Sector partnerships are partnerships of companies, from the same industry and in their natural labor market region, with education, workforce development, economic development and community organizations that focus on a set of key priority issues identified by the target industry.
9 Technical College Role in Partnership Serve as intermediary between high schools, parents, kids, faculty/staff, employers and other economic and workforce development partners Explain to employers on partnerships and assist them on how to develop their own apprenticeship in collaboration with TTC and other partners. Direct college faculty and staff on their role in Youth Apprenticeships. Inform economic and workforce development partners on how they can assist in recruiting interested employers and high school applicants. Educate teachers, counselors, parents and high school students on Dual Credit and Youth Apprenticeship opportunities for the indemand jobs in Charleston region. Connect qualified students to employers Deliver technical dual credit training to apprentices
10 Apprenticeship Office s Role in Partnership Explain the apprenticeship model to companies Draw up standards and training/education outlines based on company input Submit all paperwork to the U.S. Department of Labor to get program registered Assist with program updates as needed Fund the model through available State and Federal incentives
11 High School s Role in Partnership Educate parents and recruit students on available opportunities Assist students with application package Mentor and provide other assistance for student during the apprenticeship
12 Employer s Role in Partnership Interview, Hire and Mentor student and allow him/her to work part-time throughout the school year and fulltime during the summer Oversee (Mentor) apprentice s Onthe- Job Training Recommend award of completion certificate when apprentice satisfactorily completes the required On-the- Job training
