2 English Department Revision List Tracking 4 will test your writing skills. You will complete a writing task based on a poem that you have read. You will use techniques to make your writing interesting for the reader. The test will last for 1 hour. In order to prepare for this test you should: Complete work in class Revise and think of how you might use the following in your writing: Simile Metaphor Personification Alliteration Adjectives Adverbs Nouns Verbs Emotive Language Superlatives Consider how to use a range of sentences for effect - long descriptive, short, stand alone sentences Consider how to use a range of punctuation for effect - full stops, question marks, commas, ellipsis, exclamation marks, colon, semi-colon, brackets, correct use of apostrophe Know when to take a new paragraph Know when to use capital letters Revise grammar rules. 11 You will need a pen, pencil and ruler for this exam. Metals: Y9 T&D SUMMER EXAM REVISION LIST Revise what a ferrous metal is and what a non-ferrous metal is. Make sure that you know the difference. Revise what metal you used to make the rods on the Toothbrush Timer project make sure that you know some properties of this metal and how you can safely cut it. Revise how iron is made. Type the following into YouTube and watch the short video: How Stuff Works Ore to Steel. Revise how aluminium is made. Type the following into YouTube and watch the short video: How It s Made Aluminium. Woods: Revise the difference between a hardwood and a softwood. Make sure that you can name some examples of hardwood trees and softwood trees. Revise what a manufactured board is and make sure that you know some examples of manufactured boards that we have used this year in our projects (M.D.F., plywood, etc.). Joining Methods: Revise what the correct name of the strong woodworking joint that attaches the pillars to the frame on our latest T&D project and allows the frame to tilt. Tools & Equipment Be able to recognise all of the tools and equipment that you have used across all our various T&D projects this year. This includes the Tenon Saw, Coping Saw, Hack Saw, etc. Be able to name the various parts of the Pillar Drill. Numeracy Make sure that you are able to convert millimetres into centimetres, and vice versa. GOOD LUCK IN THE T&D EXAM
