7 Draft Photonics PPP R&I priorities: Feedback process Once the draft work group priorities have been elaborated in the respective template, they will be circulated to the work group membership for further feedback in summer until autumn. The work group members are kindly asked to provide their feedback in track change into the document and send it to In terms of transparency any communication outside the Photonics21 communication channel cannot be considered in the feedback process. The Photonics21 Secretariat will collect all the feedback, will provide it to the work group chair and will make the feedback received publicly available to the work group membership. 7

10 Our task today Start the process to discuss and define Photonics21 work group priorities for work programmes presentations of ongoing H2020 projects in the area (optional) internal light portfolio analysis in the area coverage of SRIA; gaps; major trends; update of SRIA required? SWOT of Europe first discussion At the end of the session today: Consolidate the results Prioritise the topics work groups with fewer topics might have higher success probability Expected outcome today: input for scoping paper: "Which are the trends/areas that will be addressed by the priorities (in terms of RIA, IA, CSA, etc.)" Discuss and define next steps in the process to deliver the work group priorities by 2nd September 2016 Agree on a need and, if so, timing for another work group workshop in May/June 2016? 10

11 Our task today (continued) Consider priorities in line with: Strategic Research & Innovation Agenda (SRIA), or updated SRIA technological and societal trends (e.g. Digitisation of European Industry) based on impact (of this specific priority!) on European economy, employment, impact on societal challenges, EU added value, SWOT of Europe (the key questions for setting the priorities (see the template)) also "out of the box": topics not specific for the WG, but cross-wg or outside the WG cross-cutting research and innovation priorities: for cross-cutting KET topics other KETs are nanotechnology; micro-and nanoelectronics including semiconductors; advanced materials; biotechnology and advanced manufacturing addressing Societal Challenges for other programmes in Horizon 2020 as Research & Innovation Actions (RIA), as Innovation Actions (IA), as Coordination & Support Actions (CSA) 11
