1 Partner Institution Course Number 1300 Course Title Global Business Course Description This course will survey current issues and trends in global business. Specific emphasis will be placed on the impact of these trends on managers in the multinational organizational setting. Topics include a study of the economic, financial and legal environments of international business. In addition, trade issues and corporate strategies will be discussed. Behavioral, quantitative, and qualitative aspects of managerial decision making are explored. B, L 3 9/2- Junior standing 2630 Introduction to Marketing The study of marketing encompasses the activities involved in anticipating, managing, and satisfying demand via the exchange process. Activities include environmental analysis, marketing research, consumer analysis, product planning, distribution planning, promotion planning, price planning, and marketing management. The dynamic nature of marketing, the complex environment surrounding today's marketers, and various marketing functions, performers, and strategies are examined. Junior standing 3030 Human Resources An introduction to topics such as human resource planning, equal employment opportunity, selection, training and development, performance appraisal, compensation, safety and health, and employee and labor relations. The impact of laws and of societal and business trends on human resource functions is presented. Each manager's role in dealing with human resources is emphasized Retailing A study of various types of retail institutions and their characteristics. The many kinds of retail ownership options, strategy mixes, locations, organizational formats, merchandise and inventory management techniques, and promotional policies are compared and evaluated. Cases reflecting a global perspective are included. 2630

2 3130 Legal Environment of Business This is a study of the legal and ethical environment of business and its effects on business decisions. The course includes the substantive areas of contract law, tort, criminal law, government regulation, employment law, consumer protection, antitrust, environmental law and securities law. We will also examine the ethical implications of legal disputes in business Personal Financial Planning A study of the major financial decisions encountered by individuals. The course explores a variety of consumer problems found in a modern, complex economy. Subjects covered include the financial planning process, money management, consumer borrowing, insurance planning, budgeting, investments, and retirement and estate planning Organizational Behavior Organizations, in and of themselves, do not behave; the people within them do. This course will give students a comprehensive view of organizational theory and behavior by studying individual and group behaviors and how these interrelate with the organization's structure, systems and goals. B, L 3 9/ Quality Provides an understanding of the tools, language, and techniques used in the field of Quality. The history of the quality movement, major tenets of the field, theorists and their philosophies, and the use of basic tools of Quality will be covered in this course. The course focus will be project- based in a team environment Corporate Finance An introduction to the finance function and financial management of the firm, including techniques of financial analysis, working capital management, capital budgeting, the acquisition and management of corporate capital, and dividend policy. Analysis of how the financial manager influences the decision- making process within the firm. Grade of "C" or better in ACCTING 2010 and completion of university math requirement International Financial Globalized financial markets emerged in the late 1980's and 1990's. This course explores these new markets with an emphasis on the basics and from the perspective of the financial manager. Four basic topic areas will be covered. They include: foundations of international financial management, world financial markets and institutions, financial management of the multinational firm and managing the foreign exchange exposure of the firm. 3 4950 Special Topics: Supply Chain This course focuses on the principles and concepts of Supply Chain, as well as a review of the role of Supply Chain functions within an organization. Analytical and evaluative skills are developed through critical examination of theories, models, tools, and techniques employed. Topics covered include Strategic Sourcing, Forecasting and Collaborative Planning, Inventory, Customer Relationship, and Service Response Logistics. ECONOMIC 2410 or MATH 1830 or MATH 4030 or consent of instructor Marketing The determination of market policy; marketing administration and application of principles pertaining to management of marketing resources One other marketing course. MEDIA 3010 Business strategies and techniques used in business; practice in writing effective memos, letters and reports; oral communication skills developed in influencing group decisions and making presentations; employment correspondence and interviewing. B, C 3 9/2- ENGLISH SPEECH 1010 HWM 300 Introduction to Human Health General background knowledge on many issues impacting our health today. Topics include issues in mental, physical, and social health such as stress, nutrition and fitness, alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, relationships and sexuality, and diseases and disorders. Introduction to behavior change theories and factors contributing to overall wellness will also be included. GS H 3 9/2- BIO 101 or 160 (UW Colleges BIO 101 or BIO 171) HWM 310 Changes Across the Lifespan Explore research theory regarding the nature and processes of human development from early adulthood through aging and death. Key topics include biological theories of aging, the changing body, disorders of the brain, personality development, changing memory and thinking skills, relationship issues, careers and retirement, and death/dying. GS H 3 9/2- HWM 300 Introduction to Human Health. HWM 320 Health and Medical Terminology Introduction to basic terminology used in health and medical settings including prefixes, suffices, and terms related to both preventative and clinical care. Emphasis on systems a wellness professional will most likely be exposed to including: Cardiovascular, Respiratory, Musculoskeletal, Nervous systems. H 3 9/2- ENG 102. HWM 360 Stress and Dependencies and Addiction Examine common behavioral strategies with regard to stress and its management and the use of alternative remedies for physical and emotional dependencies and addictions. H 3 9/2- BIO 101 or 160 (UW Colleges BIO 101 or 171). PSY 110 (UW Colleges PSY 202)

4 Stout HWM 370 BUMGT 304 Health Behavior/ Understanding and Effecting Change Principles of Understand how change happens. Basic knowledge and understanding of foundational change theories, based upon the Transtheoretical Stages of Change Model. Reflection on one's personal wellness and strategies for implementing health behavior change also included. This course explores the basic managerial functions of getting work done through planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling. It focuses on the universal application of management principles and also deals with the aspect of authority, departmentalization, line and staff relations and comparative management. H 3 9/2- B, C, L 3 9/9- HWM 300. PSY 110 (UW Colleges PSY 202) Stout BUMGT 330 Principles of Marketing The course covers the theory of marketing and the actualization of the theory in business. The subject includes the theory and practice of marketing management, examining areas such as the marketing role within the firm, the marketing mix, marketing strategy planning, marketing segmentation, intermediate customers and the uncontrollable variables in the marketing environment. B 3 9/9- Stout HDFS 365 Family Resource The concept of family resources is an integral part of much family research theory and practice. Resources are important variables in the study of divorce, birth and death of a family member, marriage and remarriage. Models of family stress rely on knowledge of resource availability in determining level of stress. Changes in resource levels are an integral part of family work role studies. The patterns of resource use and relationships have also been used to assess family well- being. 3 9/9- Stout SMGT 115 Environmental Science and The interrelationship between humans and the environment. Important ecological concepts, human influence on the environment, and sustainable practices to avoid or ameliorate negative impacts. Ecological concepts are used throughout to identify, understand, and provide a better understanding of how humans can more positively affect the environment in which they live. Stout SMGT 325 Natural Resource The interdependence between natural resources associated with land, air, and water. Explores significant environmental issues regarding the policies and problems in the use and management of natural resources related to soils, vegetation, landscape within the context of social needs and sustainability.

5 Stout SMGT 235 Economics in Society and Economic, social, and environmental issues facing society. Traditional issues such as markets and prices (microeconomics), government economic management (macroeconomics), and international trade. Introduction of economic content into analysis of selected topics such as poverty and discrimination, the environment, and the provision of government services. Critiques of conventional economic thought, within the context of systems thinking and ecological economics, and integrated throughout the course. Stout SMGT 332 Economics of Environmental Interaction between market activity and the environment, applies economic analysis to the efficient and sustainable management of environmental goods and resources, and examines how economic institutions and policies can be changed to bring the environmental impacts of economic decision- making more into balance with human desires and the needs of the ecosystem Stout SMGT 340 Organizational Behaviors and Stout SMGT 430 International for a Sustainable World Stout SMGT 460 Environment and Society principles and theories underlying human behavior in organizations are investigated. Topics include personality, motivation, communication, decision- making, leadership, teamwork, ethics, power, diversity, and work stress. Constraints and opportunities of an "eco" friendly organization are realized. Analysis of the theory and practice of managing international organizations. This includes socio- cultural aspects and group dynamics of international business and service organizations through the study of sustainable management practices - - strong profitability, healthy environment, and vital communities. Introduce the fundamentals of human- environmental interaction; a grasp of how these interactions create problems; and how the elements of social, technological, and personal choices combine to overcome them. Topics covered include activity identification, network diagrams, scheduling, PERT/CPM, cost analysis, resource management, and computer control. 3 9/9-

6 Stout INMGT 400 Organizational Leadership Addresses the leader's role in accomplishing organizational objectives through the management and development of followers. Concepts of organizational and individual behavior serve as a foundation for the development of leadership skills such as communication, motivation, leading, team building, building credibility, and conflict management. L 3 9/9- Senior standing or Stout PSYC 382 Human Resource Organization and coordination of personnel practices and methods. Consideration given to communication, employment, orientation and training, working conditions, supervision, performance evaluation, collective bargaining, salary administration, health and recreation of a diverse work force employed in domestic and international settings. B, L 3 9/9- SMGT 315 SMGT 435 COMM 332 COMM 425 Global Environmental Chemistry International Development and in Conflict Communicating Gender Exploration of chemical environments as interdependent thermodynamics and kinetic systems. The "system/surroundings" perspectives of thermodynamics will be applied to systems of progressively larger size to arrive at the comprehensive view of the global environmental system. Historical roots of the idea of development, economic theories of growth and their implications for sustainability, and interrelationships between population growth, food security, poverty, inequality, urbanization, technological change, international trade and environmental change at local, regional, and global scales. Contemporary issues and alternatives. Theoretical and applied exploration and analysis of communication in diverse conflict contexts. Analysis of gender and its relationship to communication. Emphasis includes the diverse ways gender shapes lived experience, and how communicators' understanding of gender and ourselves as gendered persons get formed in communication. Students will come to understand the range of consequences for our ways of communicating gender, at the personal, cultural, national and global levels. 7 COMM 467 Intercultural Advanced analysis of the communication dimensions involved in enhancing intercultural interactions. Focus is on identity and communication and their relationship to each other in a diverse world. C 3 9/2- HLTH 367 Human Sexuality Covers the biological, sociological, and psychological dimensions of human sexuality. Special emphasis on the education aspects. 3 9/2- La T 333 Lying and Deception in Human Interaction An in- depth exploration of the pervasive communicative phenomenon of deception and lying. This course explores the varieties of deceptive communication, and their causes and consequences in a wide range of contexts, including romantic relationships, cyberspace, criminal justice, advertising, mass media, and politics. Particular attention will be given to opportunities and pitfalls in identifying potentially deceptive behavior. C 3 9/8- T 190 La T 355 Diversity and Organizational This course will explore how issues of diversity such as race, ethnicity, physical and mental ability, sexual orientation, gender, socioeconomic background and age impact communication in modern organizations. As organizational life becomes increasingly complex, it is vital to understand how diversity affects relationships at work with superiors, subordinates, coworkers, and the organization s customers or clients. Diversity will be treated not only as a potential site for communication challenges and misunderstandings, but also as an opportunity to enrich organizational culture, organizational decision making, and overall employee job satisfaction. An advanced course focusing on written communication for relations with clients, boards, organizations, customers, constituents, or the public. Students practice writing as an effective process of gathering and conveying information, answering questions, and solving problems. The course will explore appropriate language, tone, and format for effective letters, memos, news releases, reports, proposals, abstracts, and summaries. There is emphasis on purpose, audience, and clarity. C, L 3 9/8- T 190 or permission of instructor. La ENG 307 Writing for, Business, and the Professions B, C 3 9/8- ENG 110 or ENG 112 La POL 205 Women and Politics An examination of the positions and roles of women in the political arena. This course discusses the nature and extent of women's political involvement, both in the United States and abroad, with particular emphasis on the cultural and racial diversity of women political participants in the United States. Additional topics will include the legal status of women, differences between male and female political behavior, factors that influence women's political participation and current political issues related to women. 8 La POL 313 Public Policy An intensive, in- depth analysis of selected public policies- their development, administration, effects and relationship to the broader political system from the perspectives of the policy maker and policy analyst. 3 9/8- POL 101 or 102. PMGT 441 Advanced Project Tools and Techniques Covers advanced tools and technologies of project management, including Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), budgeting a project, scheduling a project using PERT/CPM, allocating scarce resources, critical chain and critical path, resource leveling, monitoring the project costs, evaluating and terminating a project. PMGT 341 PMGT 442 Project Simulation Topics include project scheduling, risk analysis, earned value, and teamwork. Students apply project management skills to a simulated or live project, develop project justification and project plan, and execute the project plan and track performance. PMGT 341 and PMG 342 COMM 303 Organizational An examination of the role of communication in organizational settings. Topics include organizational communication theories and elements, and contemporary organization systems and their functioning. ***Core courses ( 107: and the Human Condition, 108: Media and Society, 207: Introduction to the Discipline- Part 1, 208: Introduction to the Discipline- Part 2), or (Instructor consent is typically given to students who do not meet the prerequisites IF they have met three of the prerequisite requirements AND are concurrently enrolled in the fourth one, OR, if they have upper- level status in a non- major and have completed a research methods class appropriate for their major.) Emphasis is on industrial structures and the ways these industries work together in the 21st century. 3 9/2- ISTD 300 Human Resources Issues This course identifies a theoretical model of human resource management and explores diverse issues in the workplace, such as external staffing; employee training and development; compensation; labor relations, including federal and state employment law; and employee security, health, and safety. 9 ISTD 345 Organization Theories An introductory survey of theories of large scale, complex organizations that have their origins in a variety of fields and disciplines, including sociology, public administration, educational administration, and business administration. A major goal of the course is to develop students' ability to apply these theories to the analysis of particular kinds of organizations, including private businesses, government agencies, not- for- profit service organizations, hospitals, religious organizations, prisons, the military, and schools. L 3 9/2- SOCA 354 SOCA 331 SMGT 325 Class Status and Power Deviant Behavior Natural Resource Patterns of inequalities and their relationship to social conflict, social organization, belief systems, race/ethnic identities, gender roles, global systems of wealth and power. A survey of theoretical perspectives on deviant behavior which traces the development of how deviance is defined, explained, and controlled. Examines the interdependence between natural resources associated with land, air, and water.
