1 Geethanjali College of Engineering & Technology Course File Year & Semester to whom Subject is offered : IV-B.Tech(I1 Semester) Computer Science Engineering Name of the Subject Name of the Faculty Designation Department : Management Science : Neha Singh : Assistant Professor : Department of Management Studies, GCET, Hyderabad 1.1 Introduction: It is pleasure to learn, understand & practice fundamentals of evergreen field of Management Science inview of tremendous growth in early 21 th century, as an ample attitude of individuals, mangers, directors & corporate entities who tried to substantiate the subject matter of management with all their functional specialization to provide workable-solutions for enormous problems that are encountered due to fluctuations in Global business. As India is not an exception, when global waves tending towards recession, India also triggered towards anti-recession tools of sustainable growth & all-round economic development through a lead in indigenous technology by using local resources as directed by Mahatma Gandhi. This situation in India motivated universities/institutions to provide the similar contemporary knowledge to young technocrats, who are the erectors of New India(Bharat Nirman) at source level of entrepreneurs, to achieve better out of best through efficient and effective utilization of managerial resources 5Ms(men, machines, methods, money & materials). Hence Management science probes into all-round business analysis. 1.2 Course Objectives: To understand the concept of management, administration, organization, objectives, nature, scope, role, responsibilities & approaches of a management. To understand concept & importance of OFC & different types of organization structures. To understand the role of management in production through PPC, Plant Location & Layout techniques, Quality Control, Work-study. To study Materials/Purchases/Stores/Inventory Management To Study Management of Marketing Mix, Physical Distribution & PLC Strategies. To study HRM/PMIR by Recruitment, Selection, Training & Development. To Study the PPC through PERT/CPM, Estimate Time/Costs & resource leveling & smoothing. To understand Strategic Mgt. & SWOT, CPP & Different types of functional strategies of a SBU. To study MIS, ERP, MRP, TQM, CMM, SCM, BPO, BPR, Bench Marking and Balance Score Card Course Outcomes: Able to apply the concepts & principles of management in real life industry. Able to design & develop organization chart & structure for an enterprise. Able to apply PPC techniques, Quality Control, Work-study principles in real life industry. Able to maintain Materials departments, & Determine EOQ Able to identify Marketing Mix Strategies for an enterprise. Able to apply the concepts of HRM in Recruitment, Selection, Training & Development. Able to develop PERT/CPM Charts for projects of an enterprise and estimate time & cost of project.
