10 Summary and Recommendations In summary, Ante is a young man of Superior intellectual capacities. Ante s higher scores are in the areas of: a) Creativity of thought 99.9 th percentile; b) Word knowledge and expressive language 99.9 th percentile; c) Practical application skills and common sense or hands on tasks 98 th percentile; and d) Visual attention to detail of objects 98 th percentile. Ante s lower scores are in the areas of: a) Speed and accuracy of clerical work 25 th percentile; and b) Visual short term memory of symbols - 25 th percentile. There is a significant span in Ante s cognitive abilities. Ante s scores are all within the Superior to Low Average range. The lower areas will affect Ante s abilities in putting pen to paper with accuracy, spelling, speed and accuracy of reading / comprehension, copying from a board to a book, a book to another book; and completing written work in time frames. Ante will become frustrated and de-motivated as his superior ideas will not be demonstrated via pen and paper, especially under exam conditions. Ante requires extra time in examinations and during this period of remediation. He also requires written homework to be shortened. Ante requires extension work for the higher areas of his scores so that he does not lose interest or become bored with his school work. I have requested a visual assessment to ensure that Ante s lower scores are not affected by visual acuity or difficulties with eye tracking and eye muscle movements. I am presently awaiting those findings. Tables and Graphs Report for WISC-IV Australian Page 10 of 11
11 Ante does experience problems with self esteem and does display signs of depression. Ante s emotional status will affect his motivation, concentration and application to the task, in conjunction with his learning problems. I plan to assist Ante with his emotional difficulties, which are currently affecting his school performance significantly. I have noted that Ante s mood has improved slightly in the short time that I have been consulting with him. I will be providing Mr and Mrs Orlovic with behavioural management techniques to assist Ante throughout this period of emotional and learning remediation. I will consult with the school at regular intervals to ensure we are working as a team to deliver the best outcomes for Ante. Ante is a delightful young man who has extremely supportive parents. Ante has a positive prognosis and has a positive future. I will inform you of Ante s progress. If I can be of any further assistance, please don t hesitate to contact me. Kind Regards, Robyn Taylor Tables and Graphs Report for WISC-IV Australian Page 11 of 11
