1 Key Leadership Development Program For Systems Engineers Richard Arra, John Farr, Art Pyster, and Dinesh Verma Stevens Institute of Technology Walter Bryzik Wayne State University 1

2 Overview One year effort funded by DAU through the SERC, with an option year, to develop a Key Leadership Development Program for senior technical leaders The program could leverage an appropriate combination of classes, games, and case studies for developing key competencies for senior technical leaders Envisioned as a follow on program for senior Program Systems Engineers, and other selected candidates 3/24/2010 2

3 Work To Date Much of the effort to date has focused on developing a competency model for Technical Leadership We are in the process of validating that model Input from the FIPT Input from Program Systems Engineers Technical Leadership Forum at the CSER (March 18, 2010) Other? We have started thinking about the Technical Program program itself Study of existing industry and government best practices Preliminary identification of content developers Understanding constraints the program must satisfy (e.g., time away from office, etc.) 3/24/2010 3
