1 APPROVED Job Goal Transportation Director will schedule and maintain an efficient transportation system to meet the needs of students and staff. Supervision The Transportation Director will report to the superintendent. Payment Rate According to Noncertified salary schedule. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Hold a valid CDL and required endorsements. Complete required physical for Bus Drivers. Meet all State requirements for Bus Drivers which include the Defensive Driving Course and American Red Cross CPR/First Aid. Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the central office. Submit to and pass a drug test as a condition of employment and to random drug tests after employment Performance Responsibilities Communicate effectively with students, staff, visitors, and community members. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned, in a sometimes noisy and crowded environment. Follow district policies in regard to student transportation. Prepare and maintain daily bus routes for USD 378. Monitor buses during morning and afternoon routes. Supervise daily bus maintenance and general repair of buses to insure safety and efficient operation.

2 Supervise bus drivers daily and plan monthly bus driver inservice meetings. Report directly to Superintendent, on a regular basis, the status of the overall operation of the transportation system. Schedule buses and drivers for activity trips in cooperation with teachers, coaches and administrators. Prepare reports, as required, for the Board of their designated representative. Prior to release on May 31st, submit, in writing, the summer maintenance schedule and plan in preparation for the annual inspection by the Kansas Highway Patrol assuring attention to its completion prior to the start of school. Attend professional meetings and workshops as requested by the Board or their designated representative, expenses paid by Board. Adhere to all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan. Be able to pass reaction time test as administered by USD 378: 1) physical ability to enter and exit rear emergency door rapidly, 2) physical ability to exit driver's seat rapidly and safely in case of emergency and proceed to rear emergency door. Maintain regular attendance. Coordinate preventative maintenance of fleet with selected contractors and ensures maintenance records for each vehicle are maintained and updated. Recruit, screen, recommend and train new and substitute drivers (First Aid, Defensive Driving, etc.) Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of assigned staff including but not limited to: scheduling, work assignments, assessment of work performance, providing assistance and support as required, ability to suspend a driver for safety reasons

3 Maintain a current district map, a current roster of pupils transported, and prepare all reports applicable to the transportation department, i.e.-route descriptions, pick up/drop off points, pupils-school attending, grade, bus number and so worth. Work with appropriate agencies to provide drug and alcohol training programs for drivers, which will also include random drug testing Responds to or coordinates emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns. Available as needed anytime district vehicle failure occurs. Maintain files of necessary Department of Transportation information on bus routes and drivers for audit and completions of the Annual Statistical Report (18E) Substitute drive vehicles on routes/activity trips when practical and possible Develop short and long range plans for vehicle replacement During inclement weather checks roads and advises superintendent Other duties, related to the transportation system of USD 378, as may by considered necessary by the Board or their designated representative. 6 APPROVED 4/20/98 Job Goal Bus Driver will provide safe and efficient transportation so students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district's curriculum and extracurricular programs. Supervision The bus driver will report to the Asst. Transportation Director. Concerning student issues, the bus driver will report to the appropriate building principal. Payment Rate According to Noncertified Salary Schedule. Qualifications for Initial and/or Continuing Employment High school diploma or equivalent Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the Central Office Valid CDL license with required endorsement with required clearance from District insurance provider. Meet all state requirements for Bus Drivers, including Defensive Driving, CPR and First Aid Certification. Complete all state-required physical examinations for bus drivers. Performance Responsibilities Drive a school bus on urban and/or country streets or roads. Be able to pass reaction time test as administered by USD 378: 1)physical ability to enter and exit rear emergency door rapidly, 2)physical ability to exit drivers seat rapidly and safely in case of emergency and proceed to rear emergency door. (see BOE policy GCBA-R approve 3/16/98) Ability to work in a noisy, crowded and stressful environment while transporting students. Ability to work around fumes, dust and odors. Have Knowledge of and obey all traffic laws. Follow District policies in regard to student transportation.

7 Communicate effectively with students, staff and community members. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.maintain discipline at all times when students are on bus. Follows District's procedure when disciplining students. Discharges students only at authorized stops. Transports only authorized students. Keeps assigned bus clean. Keeps to assigned schedule. Does pre-trip inspection as per District policy. Notifies the supervisor in case of mechanical failure or lateness. Reports all accidents and completes required reports. Adheres to all district health and safety policies including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan. Maintain regular attendance. Any other responsibility as noted in the Transportation Handbook or as assigned by the transportation supervisor. Terms of Employment To be established by the Board. 10 GCBA-R Qualifications and Duties GCBA-R Bus Drivers It is the policy of USD 378 to require strength and agility testing as part of its selection process or evaluation process for continued employment, of bus drivers in the following situations:!after offer of conditional employment has been extended to an applicant, and before the individual begins driving a school bus.!at least annually, to determine whether an employee still is able to perform the essential functions of his or her job as they relate to meeting agility and strength testing in order to deal with emergency procedures. If an agility and strength test reveals or confirms that a job applicant or employee has a disability, this information will not be used by the school district to unlawfully discriminate against the job applicant or employee on the basis of the disability. The school district will not use the results of the agility and strength test that reveals or confirms disability to withdraw an offer of employment or discharge the employee unless the disability limits the individual in the performance of the essential functions of his or her job, and no reasonable accommodation can be made. The following have been determined by the school board to be essential job-related strength and agility requirements for all district school bus drivers: 1. The driver, when sitting in the driver's seat of a 71 passenger bus with the shoulder belt fastened, shall be able to unbuckle the shoulder belt, leave the driver's seat and proceed to the rear of the bus, open the emergency door and exit the bus through the emergency door in a maximum of ten (10) seconds. 2. The driver, when sitting in the driver's seat of a 71 passenger bus with the seat and shoulder belt fastened, shall be able to unbuckle the seat and shoulder belts, leave the driver's seat, exit through the side door, proceed to rear of the bus, open the emergency door and enter the bus from the emergency door and stand erect in a maximum of twenty (20) seconds. 3. The driver shall be able to open the emergency hatch in the roof of the bus and exit through the hatch to the outside of the bus while the bus is lying on its side. The driver's ability to perform this procedure will be determined by using an actual hatch installed in a wall at the height that the hatch would be located if the bus were lying on its side. The height that the hatch will be off the ground will be three (3) feet and nine (9) inches. 4. The driver shall show the ability to stand on the side, step provided, of a 71 passenger bus and be able to wash the front windshield. Approved: March 16, 1998

Checks roads in inclement weather and together with the Ass t Trans Director determines if school should be delayed or called off. In the event that school is delayed or called off-notifies all parents, students and staff by using School Reach-notification system-notifies all medias-radio/tv
