How does it work? Mentors commit 24 hours in a period of four months. Mentors share insights and guidance on three W.I.N areas Workplace values and culture Information on profession Networks Meetings can be in person, online, telephonic, referral to network members, conferences, shadowing and other learning opportunities. Mentors work with their mentees to decide the relationship focus, pace, meeting locations and times.
Program Structure Mentors Mentoring Coaches Mentees Outreach to organizations Training and mentoring resources Program management & QC
Service Delivery Partners
Partner Roles The Mentoring Partnership is delivered through a partnership of service delivery partners, corporate partners, and TRIEC. Service Delivery Partners organizations that provide employment services to skilled Immigrants obliged to adhere to and implement service delivery quality standards Service Delivery Managers/Coordinators responsible for the delivery of The Mentoring Partnership within their organizations managers have the authority to decide upon and implement solutions Coaches are staff designated by service delivery partners Corporate Partners employers who partner with TMP to provide support to the program/recruitment of mentors Corporate Coordinator designated by the corporate partner and is responsible for executing the program TRIEC The Mentoring Partnership operates as a program of TRIEC work in close collaboration with service deliver partners and corporate partners to ensure effective delivery of the program
Matching Matching Criteria There are two factors used, industry and occupation, in identifying matches between mentors and mentees. 1. Occupation- identified by occupational classification 2. Industry identified by industrial classification The algorithm in the IT System assigns numeric value to the match. The closer the mentor and mentee based on NOC and NAIC codes are to each other the higher the numeric value, and the more precise the match. The weighting is: Occupation (NOC) (higher) Industry (NAIC) (lower)
Matching Process 1. Coach checks for accuracy and completeness of information in mentee profile before releasing for matching 2. IT system produces recommended matches based on occupations and sectors and sends new recommended matches to coaches once a day 3. Coach confirms the recommended match using the Partnership Checklist within five business days of receiving the recommended match
Coaching Support Coaching is: the management and support of the individual mentors and mentees is ongoing throughout the mentoring relationship Coaching: supports development of productive mentoring relationships increases satisfaction of mentors and mentees increases quality of mentoring increases interest in repeat mentoring The coach supports the mentoring relationship by: clarifying the communications protocols between mentors/mentees providing guidance, answering questions providing information and referrals to other resources/programs problem-solving when expectations are not being met, communication or boundary issues arise, etc. receiving feedback regarding relationship, program etc.
Outcome Tracking Tracking the employment outcomes of mentees is a core requirement of the program. The outcome tracking reports allows: TMP to track whether the mentee found employment in their field whether the employment is appropriate to their skills and experience done through MentorMatch, coaches will be prompted to do a follow-up with mentees at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months after the end of the mentormentee partnership an outcome report is filled in on MentorMatch for each outcome follow up
