RESAP Process Review (The Last Achievement Status Report) 4
Application Planning Session Future Plans & Direction 5
Observations on Current Application Process (Spring Meeting) Forces periodic review of needed documentation and responsibilities Can help provide documentation for legal issues There is a lack of understanding of the purpose (some view more as busy work than valuable) Many times information never goes beyond the person or two completing documentation (rarely reviewed by leaders) Information needs more visibility in the current process Limited benefit in the current onsite observation process 6
Summary of Ideas (Spring Meeting) Ideas Change name from Application to Self-Assessment Find a way to create graphical summary of results - include in the closing conference reports (similar to onsite evaluation graph) Help engage more co-op personnel in the process (not just one/two people) Better articulate the purpose and value of the requirement Consider ways to provide more emphasis of the information during the onsite 7
Team Recommendations for Revision Create New Revised Forms: 1. Self-Assessment Matrix 2. Safety Responsibility Checklist 3. Safety Self-Assessment Guides 8
Needs Improvement Needs Improvement (if applicable) Revised Self-Assessment RESAP Model Co-op completes: - Self-assessment matrix against program criteria - Safety Responsibility Checklist RESAP suggests using a co-op safety leadership team or safety committee to complete Co-op Safety Team Application Renamed Self-Assessment Matrix Self-Assessment Matrix 1. 10 Team View of Implementation Issues Considerations: Initial goal of full implementation in 2017 Focus on creating supporting Self-Assessments Guides in 2016 Onsite team can work with the co-op to select selfassessment areas for review and feedback during onsite (included feedback in closing conference) 10
Possible Barriers Another change that has to be communicated and understood Perception of open book test / may lack value There could be inconsistent application of new process between onsite teams 11
Possible Benefits Provides more clarity for the real purpose and value of the application / self-assessment step Promotes more employee involvement in completing Makes self-assessment information more visible to the coop leaders helps team reinforce the idea of HONEST assessment Provides the co-op more specific resources to help them self-assess their performance for SIP Helps ensure co-ops are assigning proper roles and responsibilities for key safety areas, and written policies and procedures 12

Principles to Consider for Implementation 1. Effectiveness is more important than efficiency 2. Effectiveness is more important that timeliness 3. Engaging the top leaders is the most critical factor for effective implementation 4. Offering training to frontline employees within a co-op is probably the most effective method 5. Class size is an important factor in gaining class participation 6. Customize the content for the allowable time but avoid diluting the core concepts 7. The program contains a lot of content, it was created to be flexible, adjust for the needs of the audience 8. Avoid splitting up the Speak Up and Listen Up track 26
