2 About Us We are a Company operating since 2011 in the energy & environmental industries; formerly focusing in the provision of specialized equipment & materials for hydrocarbon spill containment, with special emphasis in the petroleum sector. As part of our commitment with the development of the country, in 2012 we launched a strong process for widening our entrepreneurial vision; therefore beginning a new phase in our operations & services, by offering maritime oil spill response maneuvers, including services in water bodies such as rivers and lagoons. In this way, we confirm our purpose which consists in offering the highest quality & excellence standards for the satisfaction of our customers; thus reinforcing the actions to prevent environmental damage and to preserve ecological balance as well as human health & safety.
3 INTRODUCTION Considering the events that have happened in the Gulf of Mexico, concern has been increasing due to environmental issues caused by offshore and onshore spills of hydrocarbons, in both local and international levels, therefore the companies are developing vulnerability analysis and are implementing training programs in order to manage and lead response teams, to develop and implement full contingency plans in order to control and mitigate the risks that can be caused by emergencies of this kind. The key is mainly in the fact that it is possible to prevent an accident and that it is necessary to be prepared to take care of it; therefore it is very important to count on trained staff, to put in place a basic organization to respond to the emergency, to coordinate the tasks withy other entities involved in the event, to define clean-up strategies and tactics and manage the necessary information in order to obtain the relevant data.
4 OBJECTIVES Train staff at the operator level to respond quickly and efficiently to oil spills at sea in introductory coastal scenarios for possible offshore-type off-shore scenarios out of sight of the coast. PROFILE OF ATTENDEES A. Operational staff. B. Mariner/Seamen. C. Anyone who has direct operation and deploy pollution equipment. A. Be able to understand the basics of oil spill control. B. View the recent offshore incidents and hydrocarbon spills in Mexican waters and the Gulf of Mexico with lessons learned (Deepwater Horizon, Abkatun A Permanente, Coatzacoalcos, Usumacinta, Oaxaca, Madero). C. Understand the basic functioning of the SCI and the possible role of each of the actors. D. To be able to deploy and use mechanical recovery equipment at sea. E. Understand the use and deployment of dispersant and burn in situ strategies. F. Be able to assimilate the maritime and operational tasks inherent to the deployment of the equipment on land and aboard the support vessel assigned to the operation.
