4 4 1 Dynaway Blue Quality Control Introduction Dynaway Blue is a module-based application, designed to be used primarily in a production environment. Dynaway Blue integrates with Microsoft Dynamics AX, continuously updating data to, for example, the Production control, Inventory and warehouse management, and Human resources modules. Dynaway Blue is designed to be used together with input devices that are often used on a shop floor, for example, touch screens, barcode scanners, and RFID tags. Workers can use Dynaway Blue to make time and attendance registrations on various jobs and report feedback on production jobs. They can also create test records on quality orders, and create nonconformances relating to, for example, production orders, operations, and quality orders. Dynaway Blue comprises a client (touch screen) located on the shop floor, which is used by workers to make various registrations. A Dynaway Blue module in Microsoft Dynamics AX allows administrators and supervisors to set up parameters and base data as well as manage registrations made by workers on the Blue clients. Several modules are available for a Dynaway Blue client, for example, Registration, Documents, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and Quality Control (QC).

5 Quality Orders Overview 2 5 Quality Orders Overview In Dynaway Blue, you can record test results on quality orders relating to production jobs. Quality test recordings can be done in the Registration module or in the QC module if a company uses both Dynaway Blue modules. Registration on quality orders is done on the Blue clients that are located in the production area. When a worker has recorded a test result on a quality order on a Blue client, the test result is automatically updated in Microsoft Dynamics AX Then, an authorized worker can validate the quality order and, for example, update the status of the quality order to "Test passed" in Microsoft Dynamics AX The figure below provides an overview of the workflow related to working with quality orders in Dynaway Blue. In the following section, you will find a description of the various tasks included in the workflow.

7 Quality Orders Overview 2.1 Work with Quality Orders Dynaway Blue Quality Control in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 is based on standard functionality in the Inventory and warehouse management module. This means that the general setup for working with quality management is done in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 > Inventory and warehouse management. The setup in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 includes test instruments, test variables, tests, and test groups. Setup in AX 2012 Description Test instruments Set up test instruments that are required for performing individual tests. Test variables Set up test variables that can be selected as outcome on individual tests. Tests Create standard tests. Test groups Set up test groups and assign tests to the test groups. The tests associated with a group are set up in sequential order. The order of the tests lines defines the "test route", meaning the order in which individual tests must be verified to complete the entire test flow. Creating Quality Orders Quality orders can be created automatically or manually in Microsoft Dynamics AX When a quality order has the status "Open", workers will be able to see the quality order on a Dynaway Blue client. Processing Quality Orders on the Blue Client Quality orders can be viewed and processed in the QC module, which contains a list of all quality orders with status "open". In the Registration module, workers can view and process quality orders related to the production orders or operations they are currently working on. The three screenshots on the following two pages are from the QC module.

8 8 Dynaway Blue Quality Control Figure 2 If you select a quality order and select the Open tests button in the screen above, the Test Group screen is shown (Figure 3), and a list of the test groups related to the quality order is displayed. Note If a simple "pass or fail" test variable has been selected for a quality order, you will see a check box on the quality test line in the Test group screen shown in Figure 3. To carry out that kind of test, you only need to select the check box to verify that the test is passed. You do not need to go into the Test results screen shown in Figure 4 to add several test lines and register test results.

10 10 Dynaway Blue Quality Control If a worker is making registrations on a production job or operation in the Registration module, the worker is able to see related quality orders and record test results on those quality orders in the Registration module. Note If a worker is working on a production order or operation to which quality orders are attached, the worker cannot report feedback on the job before the required quality tests have been recorded on the related quality order.

11 Nonconformances Overview 3 11 Nonconformances Overview In Dynaway Blue, you can create and process nonconformance. Nonconformance records can be created and processed in the Registration module or in the QC module if a company uses both Dynaway Blue modules. Nonconformance registration is done on the Blue clients that are located in the production area. When a worker has created or processed a nonconformance on a Blue client, the data is automatically updated in Microsoft Dynamics AX Then, an authorized worker can take further action regarding the nonconformance in Microsoft Dynamics AX The figure below provides an overview of the workflow related to working with nonconformance in Dynaway Blue. Create / Edit / Approve / Refuse / Close / Reopen / Delete a nonconformance This means that you cannot report that operation as finished before the related nonconformance has been processed. 12 Dynaway Blue Quality Control Work with Nonconformances Dynaway Blue Quality Control in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 is based on standard functionality in the Inventory and warehouse management module. This means that the general setup for working with quality management is done in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 > Inventory and warehouse management. Before you can work with nonconformances on the Blue client, you must set up problem types and related nonconformance types in the Inventory and warehouse management module, which can be used when creating a nonconformance. On the Blue client, when you open the QC module, a list of quality orders is shown. If you select a quality order, and then select the Non conformance button, you will see a list of the nonconformances related to the quality order. The figure below shows an example of a nonconformance record that has been created for quality order _185. Figure 6

Note Creating a nonconformance is almost identical in the Registration module and in the QC module. The only difference is that in the Registration module, you have the possibility of blocking the operation for which you are creating a nonconformance. This means that you cannot report feedback on the operation until the nonconformance has been resolved.
