2 14.1 Custom Shelving Intro Configura allows you to draw simulation of other shelving based on manufactures like Delta, Viking, Rousseau, and others and add their specific information to your Bill of Materials Types of Custom Shelving There are two types of Custom shelving you can place on the drawing Cabinets or Shelving. Cabinets don not require an Upright width. You can place any of these as Double Faced, Single Faced, or Back to Back. In addition to the actual size of the shelving, you can specify a growth factor of each section. For establishing the correct panel height, you can also specify the height of the shelving using the Section Height Designing the Placeholder width (Shelving depth) The first step is to define the width of the placeholder for the shelving. This is accomplished by setting the depth of the shelving. Using the default values dialog on the mobile menu can easily do this. In this example, I am adding a carriage to hold the shelving. Under the carriage column you can enter the shelving depth that you have obtained from the manufacturers specifications, remember to also allow for any gap that is required. With this example, we will be adding a delta cabinet. This cabinet has a depth of 36 and I need also allow a 1/16 the gap. Continue by placing the carriage on the drawing Designing the Shelving Width Using the Custom Shelving menu I can further describe the shelving s characteristics. I will be placing a Cabinet. Delta Cabinets require Back to Back Supports. Next I will define the width of the shelving that I also obtained from the manufacturer. In our example the shelving is 72 wide and the manufacture suggests allowing a 1/16 for each cabinet. Last I will enter the height of the cabinet of 77 ¾. Now I am ready to apply the shelf sections to the placeholder I just created. These will be single entry cabinets. I will place two cabinets on the carriage Setting the Placeholder Length After all the required cabinets have been placed we need to set the carriage to the proper length. To do this: right click on the carriage. In the pop up menu that appears select Fit Placeholder length to shelving Adding a Label Pick on the Label button from the Custom Shelving menu. Now pick on the custom shelving to apply the label in either range mode or single mode. Use the single mode if each cabinet or shelving would be different types. 14-2

3 14.7 Defining the Label After applying the label you will see a label tag on the drawing. Each new tag will have a L# assigned to it. Use the Yellow corner to enter the dialog for the tag description. The height of the shelving can be adjusted by typing in any height using Feet and Inches. You can also type a description in the Free Text area. The Size Text displays the size that the shelving was designed with Adding Bill of Material Info Use the Manage Buyout Parts button to gain access to the Manage Buyout Items dialog to add additional Information to be used in the Bill of Materials and in other reports. For each line item each may enter detailed information in the Buyout Item Quote Text area after selecting the line. This text area is especially important if you need to print a list of items to obtain quotes from the manufacturer for pricing Printing for Mfg Quotation. After you have filled out the description and Quote text of each item you can use the column called M for marking which items you would like to create a printout so you may fax or a PDF to the manufacture for a quotation on the pricing. After you have marked the selected items pick on the Print Marked Items button to print a report of those items. Some information is obtained from the Order Information dialog for the header of the report Adding Pricing Once the pricing is obtained from the manufacture you can complete filling out the Price, and Cost fields in the Manage Buyout Items dialog. In addition there are also fields for Weight and Installation hours that is used in other reports. The Quantity column for Custom shelving is derived from the number of times each label is referenced on the drawing. 14-3

4 14.11 How to Custom Shelving and Custom Platforms and Carriages Design requirements: Platforms to hold Cabinets that measure x 38 Manufacturer says to allow 1/16 growth per cabinet section and 1/16 gap for the depth. Cabinet Heights are 58. Place 4 Cabinets per Platform. Carriages to hold Shelving that measures 24.5 x 37.5 Manufacturer says to allow 1/32 growth per section and a 1/16 gap for the depth. Measurements represent sharing across the uprights. Shelving is 78 tall. Place 4 sections per Carriage Let s draw the Platforms and Carriages first. Start by selecting the yellow bar below the Platform button of the Mobile Menu. In the Default Values dialog that appears scroll down in the Platform/Static column till you see the word Custom. Click on it. The Edit box below that section will become editable. Type in (12.25 plus 1/16 gap). While we are in this dialog we can also set up the sizes for our carriages. Go to the next column for the Carriages. Scroll down the Carriage column till you see the word Custom (It may already be visible). Click on it. In the Edit box that appears below it type in (24.5 plus 1/16 gap). 14-4

5 Now we are ready to start inserting the platforms and carriages. Select the Insert Platform button at the bottom of the Default Values dialog. Draw a platform that is longer than we need for the four sections of cabinets. 14 should be good. The depth has already been set by the Default Values dialog now we need to size the platform but first we need to place the Cabinets to establish the final length needed. Immediately after the platform is placed you can switch to carriages by typing the number 2 key on the keyboard. Configura will switch to carriages. Place 3 carriages. Once again you can quickly switch to the Aisle by typing the number 3 key on the keyboard. Place an Aisle. And to switch back to platform type the number 1 key on the keyboard. The whole system can be drawn without leaving the drawing area. Let s draw in the Custom Shelving. First we need to set up the size of cabinets to put on. Go to the Custom Shelving Menu. 14-5

6 Custom Cabinets Start by Selecting the Cabinet button for the Shelving type. Type in 38 in the edit box for Section Width. Type in 1/16 for the Section Growth. Type in 58 for the Section Height. Now we are ready to place the Cabinets on the platform. These will only be accessed from one side so we will use the SFace button. Select the SFace button and move the cursor over to the platform. Each section will be placed individually as there are no range mode options yet. Snap into the platforms and place 4 sections. There should be extra platform sticking out don t worry we will fix that in a second. Once the sections are in place we can have Configura shorten (or lengthen) the platform to match the shelving on it. Move the cursor to the portion of the platform sticking out and right click on it. From the pop up menu select Fit placeholder length to shelving Custom Shelving Now it is time to put the custom shelving on the carriage. On the Custom Shelving menu set the following: Start by Selecting the Shelving button for the Shelving type. Select the Yes button for Sharing Uprights. Type in 37 ½ in the edit box for Section Width. Type in 1/32 for the Section Growth. Type in 78 for the Section Height. Now we are ready to place the Shelving on the first Carriage. These will be accessed from both sides so we will use the DFace button. Select the DFace button and move the cursor over to the carriage. Each section will be placed individually as there are no range mode options yet. Let the first one snap into the carriage and place 4 sections. There should be extra platform sticking out don t worry we will fix that in a second. Once the sections are in place we can have Configura shorten (or lengthen) the carriage to match the shelving on it. Move the cursor to the portion of the carriage sticking out and right click on it. From the pop up menu select Fit placeholder length to shelving. You can repeat similar steps for the additional carriages and platform. 14-6

7 Labels You can place optional Labels to further describe each of the sections. These will label the sections with an L number. The Labels look like this: By clicking on the Yellow triangle, you can edit the contents of this label. The width and depth is displayed as the actual size. You can change the height of the shelving outline from within this dialog as well. Add Media weights in this dialog for use with System Weight reports. Enter the weight of the cabinets or shelving through the Manage Buyouts dialog. Important Setting the height of the sections drives the heights of the panels for the mobile system. You can add additional descriptions in the Free Text area to describe the shelving. Which makes the Label look like this: In the lower left corner is an anchor. Clicking on it toggles the label from being fixed on the drawing such that it cannot be moved and to movable again. 14-7
