5 Energy Management can be so simple A department manager wants to check the current consumption and emissions in order to determine whether any measures need to be taken. In the Dashboard display key informations are displayed very clearly. This enables a continuous monitoring of energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. The department head has a direct overview of the trends and the department s share of consumption. A facility operator wants to check whether the consumption of individual departments meets the expectations The Key indicators display enables operators to compare different units by absolute and specific consumption in order to obtain the correct information and to identify potential deviation from anticipated results. The overview at the individual department level shows potential reasons for such discrepancies. A technical service manager requires an estimate which investment into the energy system is more justifiable The system clearly shows ineffective areas from the aspect of energy. Concrete problems in this field are displayed on the Alarm Analysis display, where the history and distribution of alarms by cause and applied measures (Pareto diagram) are displayed. The information on problematic areas linked to concrete problems in these areas gives a clear picture of potentials for improvements. An energy manager wants to determine the specific consumption and define a new goal The display in the Target & Monitoring diagram section shows the consumption or energy cost depending on various energy factors like for example produced quantity, degree days etc. The interdependence is shown in the form of a regression line for the selected period. The discrepancies from the regression line often indicate process instability, which can be one of the more important factors of energy inefficiency. The system enables the definition of goals for reducing energy consumption, whose implementation is then continuously monitored on the CuSum display.
