3 e-waiting Lists The reduction of waiting for health service is one of the greatest challenges in public health systems. Almost daily the progress in medicine and medical procedures remains unused if there is no systematic referral to the first available medical facility and to the appropriate medical specialists. The e-waiting Lists is an information system that in real time connect the health system on the national level and provides an overview of available dates for medical procedures in hospitals. The e-waiting Lists enables searching for the first available date for all the required medical procedures as well as availability of existing orders in healthcare facilities. An overview of available dates in healthcare facilities is publically available online. The basis for data collecting is the national catalogue of ordering procedures with a list of procedures offered by healthcare facilities. The patient has an overview of first available dates for a certain procedure in one place and the possibility to compare it with available dates from other hospitals in the region. This enables redistribution of patients and optimum utilisation of hospital resources. Along with the information of the exact date and time of available appointments, other useful healthcare facility information are also published, such as contacts, opening hours and the exact location. 2. Active monitoring and analysis of events in the healthcare system. E-Waiting Lists enable a systematic collection and publication of all existing orders in healthcare facilities and a prompt follow-up of the waiting time for each procedure. Collecting healthcare appointments on a daily basis creates a database for different analysis, follow-up on trends related to appointment-making and basis for preventive or corrective actions in healthcare facilities. The basis for collecting data is the national catalogue of medical procedures that contains all procedures the healthcare institutions are currently offering. By using the catalogue with more than 440 procedures and by connecting it to the existing hospital operating system, the existing organisation of hospital systems remains preserved.

4 ebooking ebooking is a system for online medical procedure booking directly from the general practitioner s office. By redirecting orders, patients can make appointments faster, which unloads the counters and provides the optimum use of hospital resources. ebooking is designed as a communication node between the existing systems of primary healthcare and the hospital appointment systems. During the solution development, a special emphasis has been put on the simplicity and intuitiveness of use. The connection with the primary core system is realised through a web application that can be installed into the existing applications or used in a separate internet browser. The ebooking process starts with a list of available dates for procedures in healthcare facilities within the region to which the patient belongs. At this stage, the primary physician has the possibility to expand the list of free dates on the national level (if the closest facility has no satisfactory date) or to shift an appointment to a specific date (if the patient or medical reasons require this). The process continues with contacting the selected healthcare facility online. Here, the physician gets a preview of available dates for a particular procedure in all clinics and infirmaries. He then chooses the infirmary and the date for the patient and, if needed, adds information for the specialist. The process is completed by selecting an available date and printing of the appointment document which contains all the information the patient needs: the time, the procedure, location, preparation instructions and cancellation information. 6 econtracting The need for transparent monitoring of contractual relationships between hospitals and insurance companies resulted in the development of econtracting, an information system for creating online offers for healthcare insurance. econtracting provides simple preparation and submission of the offers for healthcare facilities and contracted healthcare services control for the insurance companies. The contracting process in four steps Medical facility creates an online offer for the upcoming contracting period and hands it over to the insurance company. The insurance company checks the data compliance with the legal framework and evaluates the offer in accordance with its business policy and set objectives. If necessary, the insurance company returns the offer for an update to the health facility. After agreeing upon mutually acceptable conditions, the offer is officially submitted and represents the basis for an agreement between the healthcare facility and the insurer.
