2 9.1 Appy To: and Shelving Placement The Shelving Apply to setting works with all aspects of adding Shelving. It controls the placement of Section (DFace, SFace, and B2B), Elevation, Shelf, and Flexible components. o In Single item mode Elevation Places a single and unique upright elevation based on upright height for each section selected. Can be used to overwrite an existing definition and create a new elevation. Shelf Places a single shelf based on setting in menu. Flexible Places a single upright with shelving based on settings in menu. o In Range mode Elevation Places same upright on series of similar sections using upright height setting. Shelf Places all shelving into an upright based on settings in the menu. Flexible Places same upright with shelving on series of similar sections using Shelf Centers and Openings settings to control the upright height and number of shelves. 9.2 Cantilever Section components General Sections can be placed on Platforms, Carriages, and in Static Place Holders. Range mode will determine combinations of 36 and 30 only. 24 sections must be placed in Single Item mode. The maximum depths are 17 for Single Faced and 32 for Double Faced. Platform, carriages and static place holders should be drawn to allow the appropriate depth of cantilever shelving and the 2 frame. The Shelf Depth will be 2 less than the initial Depth. For example: Single Faced depth of 17 yields 15 Shelf Depth Double Faced depth of 24 yields 11 Shelf Depth Select one of the types of shelving sections to place. The placement of these section components is controlled by the Apply To: Each shelf must be placed separately. There is no Range mode for placing shelves on frames as there is with 4-Post and Case shelving. 9-2

3 9.3 Cantilever Sections options The following options must be set before placing the sections or they will not take effect: Base support: Normal places the standard base support Gusset Base supports with gussets between every section Alt. Gusset places standard base with gussets at every other section. Canopy top: Select yes to automatically place Canopy tops when later adding adding elevations. Leveler kits: Adds appropriate leveler kits to the BOM. SFace Defines Single Face sections DFace Defines Double Face sections Wall Defines the placement of Cantilever on a wall Wall Fill Places Wall Filler Because of the complexity of the different combination of Wall Filler sizes the placement of this component will require that the Cantilever be priced by the factory. Corner Fill Places Corner Filler. Because of the complexity of the different combination of Corner Filler sizes the placement of this component will require that the Cantilever be priced by the factory Offsetting Bases Cantilever sections can be offset making one side wider or narrower by stretching the square yellow handle on the center frame bar of DFace sections. Only standard shelf depths are available when offsetting so all DFace widths my not allow offsetting of sections. All offset shelves will require special pricing from the factory. 9-3

4 9.4 Creating Cantilever Elevations Set the Frame Height then use the Elevation button to create elevations. Elevations can be created in Single Item or Range mode. Drawing the following will cause a Consult Factory for special pricing and will need to be priced by the factory: Frames height stretched above 90 Frames height less 66 inches with a 3 rd spreader. 9.5 Adding Cantilever Shelving The Cantilever shelving area is broken into four sections; Standard Shelf Specialty Shelf Stops Dividers Setting the shelving depth Selecting Auto will place the largest allowable shelf depth without exceeding the base shelf depth during placement or you can set the Shelf Depth to a specific depth for either the Base or other Shelves (Adjustable). Some components cannot be placed if the shelf depth selected is not correct for that component. If you select a depth that is not allowed then those components will gray out. Bases cannot be stretched after placement. The size must be selected prior to placing it on the elevation. Sloped shelves will cause a platform or a carriage to grow in width. Growth is ½ per side, therefore, Single Faced will grow ½ and Double Faced will grow 1. Adjustable Shelves can be stretched to different depths after placement onto the elevation. The maximum allowable depth is controlled by the section shelf depth and the minimum by the type of shelf component. Stretching after placement can be done by Clicking and dragging the yellow square at the front of each shelf. 9-4

5 9.5.2 Kickplates (Adjustable shelves only) All Standard and some Specialty adjustable shelf types can be inserted with or without a Kick plate as a base shelf. The Kick plate will only appear when the shelf is place at the lowest position on the frame. Kickplates cannot be used with the Base button. Select None, Recessed, or Flush before placing the Adjustable Shelf: Standard Shelf Components General Standard shelf components can be placed as either a Base or as shelves. Bases can only be placed at the bottom of an elevation. Bases cannot be placed in elevations on platforms or carriages. Each type can be placed as a Base or other shelves (Adjustable) 1. Select a shelf type. The following is a list of types: Plain shelf Sloped plain shelf Shelf with integral Low-Back Sloped shelf with integral Low-Back Slotted shelf Sloped slotted shelf 2. Then use one of the shelf buttons to place shelf Specialty Shelf Components General Specialty shelf components can be placed as either a Base or as shelves. Bases can only be placed at the bottom of an elevation. Bases cannot be placed on elevations on platforms or carriages. Each type can be placed as a Base or other shelves (Adjustable) 1. Select a shelf type. 6 9.5.5 Stops Contains a variety of Stops that can be added to the Cantilever shelving. 1. Select a stop type. The following is a list of types: Plain backstop (narrow) Slotted backstop (narrow) Plain backstop (full height) Slotted backstop (full height) Zig zag display Center stop 2. Then use the Stop button to place stop Dividers Contains a variety of Dividers and Supports that can be added to the Cantilever shelving. 1. Select a divider type. The following is a list of types: Divider W Hanging wire support (Squeeze type) Snap In Hanging wire book support Integral low-back dividers Multimedia divider Clip on book support 6" high Findable book support, with full cork base 9" high Findable book support, with full cork base 10" high Findable book support, with full cork base 6" high Findable book support, with magnetic base 9" high Findable book support, with magnetic base 10" high Findable book support, with magnetic base 4" high Flat book end, with full cork base 6" high Flat book end, with full cork base 9" high Flat book end, with full cork base 2. Then use the Divider button to place. Placing W Wire supports on the Canopy will change the Canopy part number in the BOM. 9-6

7 9.6 Elevation Accessories These items are added to the elevation views Canopy Top Canopy Tops can be added to the Cantilever Elevations. 1. Click and release on the Canopy top button 2. Position the cursor at the top of the frame to add the Canopy top 3. When it snaps into places click and release the Left mouse button Reference Shelf Reference Shelves can be added to any Plain or Slotted Shelf on Cantilever Shelving. 1. Click and release on the Reference Shelf button 2. Position the cursor at the front of the appropriate type of shelf. 3. When it snaps into places click and release the Left mouse button Filler A Shelf Filler can be placed to take up the gap of Cantilever Shelving on Double Faced Sections. 1. Click and release on the Shelf Filler button 2. Position the cursor at the back of the shelf on the Front elevation only. 3. When it snaps into places click and release the Left mouse button. This component only works on the Front view of an elevation Copy Accessories A shelving configuration can be copied from one elevation to another even if they are different widths. The configuration can also be copied from a front to a back view as well. The use of this component will allow the quick replication of similar configurations on different elevations. 1. Click and release on the Shelf Filler button 2. The words Copy from will appear as the cursor. Position the cursor near the center of the elevation to copy then click and release the Left mouse button. 3. The words Copy to will appear as the cursor. Position the cursor near the center of the elevation to add the shelving configuration then click and release the Left mouse button. You may repeat this process for as many shelving elevations that you wish to copy. 9-7

8 9.7 Section Accessories These items are added to the plan view of the shelving sections Base Support Allows the Placement or overriding of existing Base support types. 1. Select the appropriate Base Support type: 2. Click and release on the Base Support button 3. Position the cursor over the shelf section in the plan view you wish to add the Base Support. 4. When it snaps into places click and release the Left mouse button rd Spreader Seismic Welded Frame A third spreader for extra reinforcement or seismic requirements can be added to each shelf section in the plan view thus creating a Seismic Welded Frame. 1. Click and release on the 3 rd spreader button 2. Position the cursor over the shelf section in the plan view you wish to add the 3 rd spreader. 3. When it snaps into place click and release the Left mouse button. The part number for the frame will be changed in the BOM from CWF to CWF3. Third spreaders will automatically be added when the frames are drawn taller than Closed Back Panels Back panels can be placed on single faced shelving only. 1. Click and release on the Closed Back button 2. Position the cursor over the shelf section in the plan view you wish to add the Closed Back. 3. When it snaps into place click and release the Left mouse button Tie Struts Tie struts can be used on Static shelving only. 1. Click and release on the Tie strut button 2. Position the cursor anywhere over the shelf section in the plan view. 3. When it snaps into place and slides back and forth click and release the Left mouse button. 4. Repeat for as many as needed. 9-8

9 9.8 Copying Cantilever to other platforms or carriages The copy component will copy the upright and/or the shelving of a platform, carriage to platforms or carriages that have the same width. Copying can be done before shelving has been applied but is more efficient to copy the layout after the shelving has been applied. Copying of sections with shelving applied cannot be performed if the sections without shelving have already been copied or if sections already exist on the carriages or platforms. To perform the copy: 1. Pick on the Copy component, the cursor will have the symbol attached. 2. Place the cursor over the platform or carriage from which you wish to copy and click on it. 3. The system will search for all like width platforms or carriages to copy to. Note: The Copy component can only copy an entire shelving layout on a platform or carriage to other platform or carriages with similar lengths and widths. It cannot be used to copy sections within a single platform or carriage. Use the methods described before this section on Copying Sections and Elevations. 9.9 Copy Shelving and Accessories from one Elevation to another. Shelving and Accessories can be copied from one elevation to another even if the elevations have different base depth or frame widths size. If the shelving or accessory dopes not fit within the defined frame then they will be automatically omitted while the rest will be copied. To copy: 1. Pick the Copy Acc s button from the menu, the cursor will have the words attached to the cursor. 2. Position the cursor in the elevation to copy it will snap anywhere in the middle up and doen the elevation, when it does click and release the mouse button. 3. The words on the cursor will change to 4. Position the cursor into the elevation you wish to copy to, the cursor will again snap into the middle of the elevation, when it does click and release the mouse button. 5. Repeat all the above steps to copy to additional elevations. 9-9

10 9.10 Reference Shelf: The reference shelf component will place a reference shelf on the shelving elevation and a rectangular representation on the shelving sections. This is what you see during placement: After placement it looks like this: It also adds a reference shelf to the elevation that looks like this: 9-10

11 9.11 End Panels End Panels can only be added when Static shelving is placed into a placeholder. Add End panels from the Mobile menu in the same way that you add Face Panels to platforms, carriages, and static shelving. Use the Stl Face Panel selection for Metal End Panels. For Laminates choose either HPL or LPL. The End Panel Mounting Brackets are added to the BOM each Panel. Closure Panels are added to the BOM whenever Cantilever shelving is on a Carriage with Face Panels. This can be toggled using the Settings dialog under the Cantilever tab. 9-11
