A SUBJECT: Carriage of Dry Ice And Radioactive Materials - Hold Locations Prior to the loading of any Dangerous Goods the loading location must be agreed with the Captain and the NOTOC completed after this has been agreed. The maximum permitted amount of Dry Ice is 10kgs and this may only be loaded in the main hold of the aircraft. For radioactive materials the goods should be located as far from the passenger compartment as practicable, and in accordance with the TI. Hold Locations are as follows. AW139 1 main hold S92 1 main hold which also has a hold shelf Dry Ice or radioactive materials should be loaded into the main hold floor area and not onto the hold shelf area. ( designated Lower in the pictures Below) Page 1 of 2
5 EC225 1 main hold which also has a hold shelf (designated as Area A in the picture below) Dry Ice or radioactive materials should normally be loaded into the main hold floor area (designated as Area C in the picture below) and not onto the hold shelf area. However for radioactive materials if agreed with the Captain the Tail Cone cargo area may be used. ( designated as Area B in the picture below ) As332L2 1 main hold which also has a hold shelf (designated as Area A in the picture below) Dry Ice or radioactive materials should normally be loaded into the main hold floor area and not onto the hold shelf area (designated as Area C in the picture below) However for radioactive materials if agreed with the Captain the Tail Cone cargo area may be used. ( designated as Area B in the picture below ) Certain L2 airframes also have sponson hold compartments, these are NOT to be used for the carriage of Dry Ice or Radioactive materials. 8 Form No: QF 27 Date: 11 Sept 2014 Rev: 03 OFFSHORE HANDLING OF THE MK50 LIFEJACKET & PSTASS (EBS) Each Mk50 lifejacket with PSTASS (EBS) cylinder & PLB weighs approx. 4kg Particular care needs to be taken with the compressed air cylinder (PSTASS) ALL LIFEJACKETS NOT WORN BY PASSENGERS ARE TO BE PREPARED FOR TRANSIT AS FOLLOWS: TURN OFF ratchet knob fully clockwise to the right to CLOSE the valve. Press the purge button on the mouthpiece to vent the pressure in the hose Purge Button QF 27 Page 1 of 3
9 Form No: QF 27 Date: 11 Sept 2014 Rev: 03 Remove the mouthpiece from the stowage cup and place on its side between the lobes of the life jackets (as illustrated) Stowage cup The jackets should be placed in the bag facing alternate directions. A maximum of 3 jackets are to be placed in each of the orange transport bag The bags containing the jackets should be placed on top of any other freight, such as passenger bags ALL LIFEJACKETS TO BE ISSUED TO PASSENGERS ARE TO BE PREPARED AS FOLLOWS: Carefully remove the jacket from the bag Replace the mouthpiece into the cup stowage and fasten the velcro tabs Re-stow mouthpiece into cup Check that the pressure gauge reads 200 bar or more QF 27 Page 2 of 3
10 Form No: QF 27 Date: 11 Sept 2014 Rev: 03 TURN ON ratchet knob fully anti-clockwise to the left to OPEN the valve. The green pressure on indicator pin should be raised within the red castellation s. The passenger must then carry out the 3 point checks prior to donning the life jacket as follows: 1. Check the pressure gauge reads 200 bar or more 2. Ensure the valve ratchet knob is turned fully anti-clockwise to turn on 3. Ensure the green indicator pin is raised within the castellation s UNSERVICEABLE PSTASS Any Mk50/PSTASS assembly deemed unserviceable for use due to any of the following reasons, must have an unserviceable/warning label attached around the neck of the PSTASS cylinder (not onto hose or second stage components) to highlight the assembly is not serviceable. This will prevent any possible inadvertent issue to passengers during transit between multiple installations and return to base/mainland The pressure gauge reads less than 200 bar The green pin (pressure indicator) is not out as illustrated above If there is any visible damage to the Life Jacket or PSTASS The label should, where possible, state the fault and that the assembly is to be returned to the heliport departure location for investigation. A SUBJECT: Carriage Of Dangerous Goods On S92 And AW139 Aircraft S92 and AW139 aircraft operated by CHC and other operators do not meet Class B or C cargo compartment certification requirements Accordingly, dangerous goods may not normally be carried on these helicopters when also carrying passengers. Cargo Aircraft only flights may carry Dangerous Goods outwith this compliance list in accordance with IATA regulations. However there may be occasions when there is a need to carry dangerous goods on S91 and AW139 aircraft types whilst operating with passengers on board. In such circumstances, the State of Origin and the State of the Operator (UK CAA) may approve the transport of certain low hazard dangerous goods in accordance with the paragraphs below. CHC has secured additional approval from the CAA to enable such carriage and this carriage will be achieved under exemption number AOCGB DGAPPROVALANDEXEMPTION All current procedures and processes for the carriage of dangerous goods (pre-notification, documentation etc) remain in force. When Dangerous Goods from the classification list below are to be presented for Transportation on CHC Aw139 or S92 aircraft, whether from an onshore or offshore location the Dangerous Goods Declaration and the NOTOC should contain this phrasaeology.
12 Carriage of these goods is in accordance with exemption no AOCGB DGAPPROVALANDEXEMPTION The Dangerous Goods may only be in the following classes or divisions: Division 1.4S Division 2.1 Aerosols only Division 2.2 (except UN 2037, UN 2073 and UN 2857) Class 3 (except UN 1112, UN 2047, UN 2059, UN 2332, UN 3054, and UN 3269) Division 4.1 (except UN 1309, UN 1313, UN 1314, UN 1318, UN 1324, UN 1330, UN 1338, UN 1353, UN 1869, UN 2000, UN 2213, UN 2714, UN 2715, UN 2878, UN 3089, and UN 3241) Division 5.1 (except UN 1458, UN 1459, UN 1467, UN 1481, UN 1482, UN 1483, UN 2427, UN 2428, UN 2429, UN 2469, UN 2726, UN 2984, UN 3210, UN 3211, UN 3213, UN 3215, UN 3216, UN 3218, UN 3219) Division 6.1 (except UN 1549, UN 1550, UN 1551, UN 1556, UN 1557, UN 1593, UN 1599, UN 1655, UN 1686, UN 1690, UN 1710, UN 1812, UN 1887, UN 1888, UN 1897, UN 1935, UN 2024, UN 2025, UN 2026, UN 2074, UN 2077, UN 2233, UN 2501, UN 2505, UN 2515, UN 2609, UN 2655, UN 2656, UN 2674, UN 2713, UN 2747, UN 2785, UN 2788, UN 2821, UN 2831, UN 2853, UN 2854, UN 2855, UN 2856, UN 2871, UN 2874, UN 3141, UN 3144, UN 3146, UN 3283, UN 3293) Division 6.2 Class 7 Excepted packages of radioactive material and packages assigned category I-White only Class 8 (except UN 1731, UN 1740, UN 1755, UN 1757, UN 1783, UN 1787, UN 1788, UN 1789, UN 1814, UN 1819, UN 1824, UN 1848, UN 1908, UN 2430, UN 2496, UN 2508, UN 2564, UN 2578, UN 2585, UN 2586, UN 2672, UN 2677, UN 2679, UN 2681, UN 2693, UN 2790, UN 2803, UN 2809, UN 2837, UN 2869, UN 3145, UN 3253, UN 3320) Class 9 (except UN 1931, UN 1941, UN 1990, UN 2211, UN 2590, UN 3268, UN 3314, UN 3316, UN 3363, UN 8000) Where a packing group is assigned, the dangerous goods above are restricted to those in Packing Group III only.
13 The dangerous goods must comply fully with all other applicable requirements of the Regulations and: a) must be in combination packaging, if the applicable packing instruction provides for such a packing method; and b) the quantity per package must not exceed that permitted for transport on passenger aircraft according to Table 3-1 of the ICA Technical Instructions. The information in this table is contained in the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations as 4.2 List of dangerous goods (the blue pages). A copy of the exemption must be carried on the aircraft. Appendix A ( attached ) Details those customers that have confirmed that their installations have updated their Procedures which enables the carriage of Dangerous Goods under this exemption. A SUBJECT: IATA DG Manual Amendment Maintenance Periodically IATA issue amendments to the IATA Dangerous Goods regulations. These consist of Addendum s which are issued to the manual. To ensure that manuals are maintained at the correct amendment state duty holders are to ensure that they, or the department responsible for the issuance of the IATA regulations are registered to receive any such addendum s from IATA. As per this para below It is common practise in the aviation industry for each holder of the IATA DGR (or a central document control function) to subscribe to the IATA DG Community (see using a permanent functional address so it remains in use for the foreseeable future. Subscribers are automatically ed addenda and corrigenda by IATA which are then embodied into the manual by the holder. Where there is a document control function, confirmation is to be sought from each holder of the IATA DGR that amendments distributed by Document Control have been embodied. A SUBJECT: Reporting Of Dangerous Goods Occurances The IATA regulations require an Operator to report Dangerous Goods Incidents, Accidents, Occurances, Undeclared or Mis-Declared Dangerous Goods. ( section 9 ) Duty Holders are to ensure that any such occurances are notified to CHC without delay so that CHC can perform the appropriate actions.
