4 1 PURPOSE Page 4 / 5 The purpose of this plastic material specification to specify the requirements for polycarbonate (PC) materials used in Aviation Seats manufactured as sheet (resistant to flame, fulfills smoke density and heat release requirements of FAA/EASA) and shaped with vacuum forming production method. 2 SCOPE This document covers the performance, design and test requirements for polycarbonate materials manufactured as sheet installed on aircraft seats, via Uçak Koltuk Üretimi Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. Manufacturer of this material shall be liable for compliance with all requirements of this specification. Plastic materials manufacturer shall be liable to provide the required information or clarification to Uçak Koltuk Üretimi Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş in its proposal if any deviation from the requirements of this technical specification may arise or is foreseen. 3 DEFINITIONS CS: Certification Specification EASA: European Aviation Safety Agency FAA: Federal Aviation Administration ISO: International Organization for Standardization : Turkish Seat Industries UKU: Uçak Koltuk Üretim Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. 4 PART/COMPONENT MATERIAL MAY BE USED Please refer to PMI 001 document for material color component link. 5 APPLICATION 5.1 SUPPLIER S RESPONSIBILITIES Surface must be made of control about crater, swelling, cracking and bleeding. The manufacturer has to supply test reports support and provide the items described above. The supplier should provide the required cleaning procedures and materials against all residues. 5.2 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION, STANDARDS AND REGULATIONS FOR PLASTIC MATERIALS Polycarbonate material should comply with aviation standards (EASA, FAA).
