1 1.10 The CIMOTEC CNC flatbed polishing systems were enhanced in close cooperation with our customers to provide a costeffective solution to the ever-increasing demands placed on polishing or brushing work-pieces placed horizontally. This unique and highly flexible system offers exactly the right solution for work-pieces that cannot be processed appropriately by robotic systems owing to their size or shape. As in the case of many CIMOTEC systems, even this machine design is based on components installed separately with the most varied enclosure arrangements and safety devices, which bring benefits to the user with respect to system safety and modular construction. The performance capability can be enhanced as required by using multiple processing units in a single application. Various work-piece guiding systems from the large CIMOTEC product range can be integrated in the systems easily and guarantee economic operation over a period of many years. The system is very simple and can be quickly reconfigured for varying work-pieces, so that the increasing demands of Just-intime production today can be handled without any problems. The user-friendly system control based on the Siemens S7 system as well as a wide range of options, by means of direct influence in the process to achieve an increasingly optimal processing result, wrap up the ROBOCELL concept. The highest levels of reliability, maximum extent of maintenance-friendliness and with it, even the highest levels of system availability, were some of the prime considerations during the development of the ROBOCELL. We are so confident about this that we document it flourishingly with a 2-year product guarantee.

2 The CIMOTEC CNC flatbed polishing systems have been designed as a modular system. They provide a cost-effective alternative for the processing of mostly straight or slightly bent work-pieces such as profiles, pipes, interior work-pieces and much more. Depending on the variant, processing lengths beyond 6m can be achieved effortlessly, otherwise, other productive solutions offering more space can be supplied. With the use of multiple, identical polishing units having an integrated CNC Z-axis, polishing times have been reduced dramatically: the polishing work required for a given component is completed on the work-piece in half the time, which leads to immense performance enhancements. 3 The customer can select the most varied of system enclosures from the comprehensive CIMOTEC product range to suit his desires and requirements. The heavy retrofit enclosure is designed as a stable steel construction and offers clear advantages with respect to system safety as well as noise and emission protection. They comply with the latest work-place directives in totality. Should the processing demand it, then the heavy retrofit enclosure can be supplied in an explosion-proof design in conformance to the ATEX Guidelines. We can supply the complete enclosures, as is the case with ROBOCELL complete enclosures, in the colour desired by the customer and we can comply with the request for almost any colour. The new, lighter and complete enclosure with integrated steel construction base plate represents a meaningful tradeoff between utility and cost. For comparable feature of system transportability such as our large ROBOCELL integrated enclosures there is an interesting alternative with respect to the procurement cost. At present, we can supply this type of enclosure only as a one-piece enclosure. Safety enclosures with a safety fence offer enhanced operational safety with good accessibility even when they are difficult to place and mount at the installation site. The light retrofit integrated enclosure has as an aluminium profile construction. It is a cheaper alternative to the heavier variant, which, however, we construct in-house in the antiexplosion design and conforming to the ATEX Guidelines.

4 The CNC processing unit CTP 600/22 having an integrated Z-axis provides the maximum performance capability in the least amount of space. The system control of the CNC Fletbed-Polishing- Systems is a very special subject: A high-speed Siemens CNC Controler Sinumerik 840-Dwith a operating panel HT 8, and, on request, even a mobile one, from the house of Siemens permits specific control of all required processing parameters. A user administration system having multiple levels of authorisation permits targeted adaptation of the authorisations to meet the customer s needs. Using the work-piece administration the user can create and manage up to 250 different work-pieces, and for each work-piece a separate parameter data record, consisting of the cutting speeds, pressing forces, polishing paste cycles etc. can be stored and retrieved. Other parameters such as our cutting speed increase for grinding belt wear or polishing wheel grinding, the number of work-pieces and batch counter or the automatic pulse time display allow flexibility of processing like never before. All basic components of the processing system are networked to one another with the help of Profibus. Thus, all operating conditions can be recorded at any time and displayed as indications. A modem for remote diagnostics can be integrated optionally, which facilitates quick assistance from our specialists in caser of failures.

5 Polishing Jigs CNC-Polishing Jigs Customer-specific polishing equipment jigs up the CIMOTEC range of products. CIMOTEC also supplies the tools necessary for the optimal functioning of the system from single and multiple clamping devices for ornamental strips, profiles or similar work-pieces right up to CNC turntable clamping devices for pipes or profiles. The clamping devices for CNC machine tools have become a kind of standard for the processing of motor vehicle roof rails and profiles since the time that they were developed more than 10 years ago. In the variants having 3, 6, 8 and 10 devices, one can simultaneously clamp and process multiple work-pieces. They can be aligned or rotated by the computer in various positions during the course of processing in order to attain optimal accessibility to the work-pieces. In this manner, production economy is guaranteed. High-Pressure System Various systems are available for the polishing paste feed of the CIMOTEC polishing units depending on the particular task. Other accessories such as, for example, polishing wheel pullout mechanisms for automatic periodic cleaning of the polishing wheels, precision measurement equipment for exact determination of the polishing wheel abrasion, polishing wheel quick change holders for quick and easy replacement of the polishing wheel packet etc. already prepared, wrap up the CIMOTEC range of products.
