2 1. BRUSSELS, FRONT DOOR TO EUROPE Brussels Import Agency is a new initiative of BECI () in partnership with the Belgian-Luxemburg-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce. The two basic missions of BIA are: Helping companies develop their commercial relations and import/export projects Increasing the profit of our companies by opening their reference market (presentation of new clients, new suppliers, new products) BIA is a group of experts of the International department of BECI (Brussels Enterprises Commerce and Industry). Aside from their own expertise they also established a large and competent network with commercial companies and experts in International Trade. 2. TOP 5 REASONS TO BECOME A CLIENT OF BIA 1. Develop your network Promote your business towards 2500 companies in Belgium 2. Get helped by our experts Get the help of our experts at each developmental stage of your company s/associations project and receive free advices on commercial, law, financial and social matters. 3. We can also advise you in the organisation of seminars and promotional events. On the following pages you will find a detailed description of all services availabe. A. Access to our network of experts When you prepare a business plan for your import/export project, you can optain a second opinion from our experts. Aside from basic information our people can provide you with information in the following 4 area s: Commercial Research of potential partners (Obtain listings of targeted addresses) Learn about the commercial habits in Belgium (Import/Export book) Put clients/suppliers in relation (Individual or collective meetings) Identify which distribution channel to use (Agency, dealership, franchise) Publish an announcement about your products or services (magazine, e-news, etc.) Financial Create a banking relation in Belgium Optimise all international ways of payment Finance your foreign trade approaches Evaluate all exchange risks Guarantee all payments of your products/services Legislation How to use the fiscal rules? 2
4 How to optimise the conditions, taxes and customs rules? How to benefit from the notional interests by settling in Belgium? Which rules to respect concerning the VAT recovery in foreign countries? Are trivial circumstances, embargo or other constraints concerning my product/country? What are the basic principles of the social security legislation in force? Formalities Which are the purchases/sales conditions in force? (INCOTERMS, ownership transfer) How to create a company / subsidiary / branch in Belgium? Commercial Kit We can help you to obtain information about a client, a prospect, a supplier, Our Commercial kit will help you take the right decisions. In addition to a short description of the company (name, address, enterprise number, size, etc.), you will find some characteristics (date of establishment, capital, etc.) and for some companies, an extract of the Executive Board. Aside from company history, addresses and names, you will also find the company s listing (balance, sheet, financial information, ) in Moniteur Belge. This is required by Belgian law. Last but not least, we offer access to different kinds of balance sheets, data and credit advice. This file can thus help you on a legal, commercial and financial side. C. Potential import barriers Through its role as a guide BIA can provide you with general and specific information regarding import/export processes. This report bundles all the information that an exporter/importer needs in order to optimize its commercial project: conditions of eligibility, different national taxes, customs duties, 3
5 Upon request BIA can produce a table of import/export specifications for different countries to compare and to help you make the right choice. D. Contact information about potential clients and suppliers On the basis of your research criteria, we offer you a list of potential contacts. This list is an electronic given. Data: Name, address, phone, , activities, countries in relation, name of the managers The quality of our data is based on regular updates and comparison between our internal and external databases. E. Enterprise Europe Network You can have access to a network of 430 Euro-Info Centres spread all over Europe in order to benefit from local data and information. The entirety of the treated data, information, requests are gathered in a database, composed of more than requests that may be used in order to influence the European legislation. Concretely, concerning your project, we help you to get European financing and to build UE projects. F. Individual Meetings Organisation: Suppliers/ Clients According to your needs we can organise meetings for you and/or your delegation when you travel in Europe. 2 possibilities: Company visit to meet potential partners. You will be offered to meet with 3 companies/day. Flash meetings to meet company managers, potential partners, (per hour You will be offered to meet up to 8 potential partners/day. in a meeting room). G. Communication & Promotion You wish to: optimize the participation of your future partners to an event that you organize (seminar, fair, delegation, ) benefit from the support of a professional, neutral and recognised organisationn multiply your communication channels and the diffusion of your information 4
6 H. Organisation of seminars 1. Thematic: Product/Country If you travel in Europe, alone or with a delegation, and you want to present your products and your know-how to managers interested in your sector, you describe us your needs (business classification, size, experience, expertise, products, market, past and future development, etc.) and we organise you a private thematic seminar. We provide services for you in the following area s: Creation and follow up of invitations Registration and validation of guests Booking of a room, catering, or other such needs Creation of an atmosphere that will enhance your image Interpreters Total event organisation according to your requirements According to your structure and organisation, you can be accompanied by an interpreter, an affiliated company or a member of our team. 2. Prepare your European Project, live from Brussels We offer you the possibility to stay in Brussels for one week, and have the possibility to adapt your business plan in order to make them match with the reality of the market. Legislative aspects, company s visits, cultural meetings, various contacts among final consumers are the programme that we can suggest to you. In order to help you put your ideas into reality, we set two days aside for you so you can present your project (in strict confidence) to your Belgian and European colleagues.
