1 University of Sunderland Role Profile Part 1 The Employment Agency Recruitment Lead Job Title: Reference No: Reports to: Grade: Working Hours: Faculty/Service: Location: Main Purpose of Role: The Employment Agency Recruitment Lead NEW408 Employment Services Manager E 37 hours per week Enterprise and Innovation, University of Sunderland Edinburgh Building, City Campus The Employment Agency is an exciting new commercial arm to the Employment Services team which is part of the Enterprise and Innovation (E&I) Directorate based at the University of Sunderland. E&I is the University s focal point of commercial activity and employer engagement maximizing the economic and social impact of the University of Sunderland. The Employment Agency connects businesses with emerging graduate, student and professional talent from across the region and the UK, managing a range of services from the recruitment of temporary roles and permanent full time positions, to the development of assessment centres and Graduate Development programs, whilst actively supporting the University s employability agenda and strategic mission. The role of Recruitment Lead is a professional sales position, focusing on the development and delivery of long standing and financially productive relationships with regional and national employers, ensuring that all Agency sales and financial targets are met and exceeded. The Recruitment Lead will manage the day to day running of the Employment Agency, taking accountability for the delivery of all financial reporting and administrative processes as well as the supervision of Agency staff. Working closely with the Employment Services Manager, the Recruitment Lead will strive to develop and grow the Employment Agency, to exceed income generation targets whilst supporting the delivery of the University s employability agenda.

2 Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Overview Of The Role Responsibilities/key duties Management of the day to day running of the Employment Agency, focusing on the accurate delivery of all financial and administrative procedures and processes. Accountability for delivering and exceeding all Agency sales and financial targets. Supervision of Employment Agency staff, supporting all individual workloads and work based queries. Establish and build long standing and financially productive relationships with new and existing clients through proactive business development meeting all agreed sales and income targets. Complete tailored and structured market research, proactively contacting potential new clients, building and developing an active pipeline and database of temporary and permanent opportunities. Visit current and new clients, maximizing opportunities and sales. Work with the Employment Services Manager to drive and deliver all agreed business and sales targets, Agency strategy and the University s Employability agenda. Write job specs and position role profiles. Negotiate and facilitate Service Level Agreements and contracts, keeping abreast of Employment Law. Account manage key clients. Work closely with the Employment Agency s Administration team and the Recruitment Coordinator to ensure effective and efficient sourcing and screening of candidates. Develop relationships with internal stakeholders, academics and teams to promote and market the Employment Agency and Employment Services, developing a range of temporary and permanent positions. Attend networking events to represent and promote the Employment Agency and Employment Services. Accurately analyse and document all developments and results, reporting back to the Employment Services Manager. Special Circumstances: Due to the nature of The Employment Agency and Employment Services, the post holder will on occasion be required flexible hours.

3 University of Sunderland Role Profile Part 2 Part 2A: Essential and Desirable Criteria Essential Qualifications and Professional Memberships: Educated to degree level Knowledge and Experience: Excellent people management skills. Extensive experience in relationship management and business development. The ability to proactively and consistently strive to identify and obtain new business opportunities. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the confidence to cold call companies directly. Substantial sales experience, with the ability to spot an opportunity as well as up and cross sell. Experience of working to tight deadlines and delivering measured financial targets. Experience of working in a fast paced dynamic environment. Extremely organised with the ability to handle a number of projects and clients simultaneously. Excellent research and planning ability. The ability to develop a thorough understanding of client companies, their industry and sector as well as their culture and environment. Skills to negotiate and facilitate pay and salary rates, finalising arrangements between the client and candidates as well as the client and the Employment Agency. The ability to ensure all necessary administration, payment and aftercare services are concluded in line with Employment Agency policies and professional standards. Good event management skills, ideally with experience of organising and delivering recruitment events and/or assessment centres. Professional approach with excellent commercial awareness. Proactive and driven with a composed enthusiasm. Approachable and personable. Resourceful and resilient. Good IT skills with experience of Microsoft Office.

4 Desirable Qualifications and Professional Memberships: Ability to drive with access to a car (Business Insurance is essential). Knowledge and Experience: Previous experience of work in Higher Education and in particular within a customer engagement role. Service Delivery The role holder is required to deal with internal or external contacts where the service is usually initiated by the role holder, working within the organisation's overall procedures or policies OR proactively seek to explore and understand customers' needs; adapt the service accordingly to ensure the usefulness or appropriateness and quality of service (content, time, accuracy, level of information, cost). Pastoral Care and Welfare The role holder is required to show sensitivity to those who may need help or, in extreme cases, are showing signs of obvious distress; initiate appropriate action by involving relevant people and the role holder is required to give advice on commonly occurring welfare issues or queries; follow standard welfare procedures for the organisation; recognise when an individual should be referred elsewhere for professional help; respect confidentiality.
